Last Saturday a roma camp was burned to the ground after a girl claimed to be raped by 2 roma. In the end it turned out that the girl had been lying, but by then the damage had already been done. Infuriated by the claims a protest was launched by residents after which 50 protesters, probably ultra's associated with Juventus, attacked the camp and set fire to the caravans.

Anti-ziganist sentiment is mainstream, with one 2008 poll claiming 81% of the Italians disliked the Roma presence, and 68% supported expelling all Roma from Italy (http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/may/17/italy). As last Saturday showed, little has changed since then.

That's absolutely disgusting. Why do people in Europe find it okay to openly hate the Roma? Its the most open racism in the world, and the worst part is that people who are against the Roma and Sinti tribes are extremely vocal and convinced that they are right by some kind of morality. Its truly horrible.
