A simple question to American revolutionary leftists and those who support revolution in the USA: how will you overcome the generations of Americans who were taught to despise communism and embrace capitalism and the "American Way?"

How will you deal with those who agree that the current system is fucked but think it's fuck because of big government (I.E. libertarians)?

Simply put: how will you overcome the entire system working against you? How will you convince workers who think capitalism is the best thing since sliced bread (I.E. the Tea Party) to overthrow the whole thing and introduce something that is antithetical to everything they were brought up to believe?

I'm not saying it's impossible. I'm just saying it would take a LOT, and capitalism has endured through current crises like this one in the past (I.E. the Great Depression).

Oh I dunnooooo...how did the French Revolutionaries get from "well the king defo told me he's totes awesome" to "hold on a second...didn't this Louis guy have a head a second ago?"? (n.b. both direct quotes from contemporary diaries. Look it up!)

Well whatever they did...we'll do that. Which probably means we won't exactly do very much at all, because I do believe the way the French Revolutionaries got from one to t'other was by looking at the situation and saying "well that's enough of this merde I'm-a gon' go fuck shit up" (more direct quotes) without anybody having to waltz in telling them to. As we won't have to go to people saying "oh by the way that whole thing about your working three jobs and still being broke and all that stuff...hate to tell you this, but that's not a nice way to live your life. Ever thought of, I dunno, doing something to ameliorate the situation...?"

People, believe it or not, are sometimes clever enough to notice the insincerity in statements like "I'm a really nice guy who's always doing what's best for you and also can I hit you on the head with this baseball bat because that would be cool, just remember that I'm really nice, yeah?" Perhaps within three strikes *pun central* when they can be absolutely positively 100% certain that being beaten to a pulp isn't actually as much fun as they had been led to believe..

Dress it up with liberty and patriotic colors. And, try to get your ideas to be compared to the founding fathers.

Sounds like literally one of the worst ideas I've ever heard in my whole entire life...

Luckily I'm going to assume it's a joke, so it's okay :)

Most of the youth don't hate Communism. The older generations do, but most of the youth didn't have red scare propaganda drilled into their heads. Most of us have had anti-Islamic propaganda drilled into our heads, but Communism was barely mentioned aside from its historical role. Of course, the anti-Islamic propaganda hasn't been that successful, at least not with me.

As to capitalism enduring crises like the Great Depression, I think that comparison is flawed. Back then, the capitalists were willing to let men like FDR reform the system to save it, because the USSR was still around and they knew they had to be careful. Now, however, the capitalists have gotten very short-sighted and they believe their system will last forever and nothing will challenge it. If FDR were alive today, he would never be president. At best he would be allowed to hang out with Sanders and complain about how bad the system is, but never change it.

In the same way capitalism took over feudalism, with time and patience.
With great efforts, people behavior toward something change, all it take is perseverance and the technique.

The attitudes of peoples toward things like feminism, sexuality and environnement changed a great deal over the decades, and it was mainly possible beccause of people like you and me who pushed idea Into society, often going against the grain of public opinion.

i dont see why it should be different for communism and leftism.

This is America so if we say everybody gets free bacon then we would gain a majority quickly. Free bacon and Quarter Pounders actually.

Communism doesn't need anyone to theorize about it or even consciously want it -- unless, that is, you disagree with materialism.

That is not true for everyone. As a hispanic i have contacts with various exile groups and as a rule they disown socialism in all of its guises. The teachers openly criticize it which influences the more dim whitted students. Little Saigon is also a hotbed for anti-leftist behaviors. Combine that with rural youth and even more visible roadblocks to revolution materialize.
