I often take catnaps from around 4.00PM to around 6.00PM.

Is this unhealthy?

When you sleep for a couple of hours during the day.

How long do you sleep at night?

It's fine, so long as it doesn't cause you to lose sleep at night, and become tired the next day.

How long do you sleep at night?

4-5 hours.

Napping is not unhealthy. In fact, for many people it is necessary. If you feel very tired and desire to nap you probably should.

Many experts actually consider that to be the natural sleep pattern for humans. In most pre-industrial societies it was common to divide sleep into two segments. It wasn't until the invention of artificial lighting that it became normal to sleep for one uninterrupted period during the night.

Naps are perfectly healthy. I nap when I get home, before dinner, before the gym. Explosive power after this combination.

4-5 hours.
Is there a reason why you are sleeping so little? If you are sleeping this little it might be useful to take naps, but if you don't have to try to sleep for 7-8 hours.

Looks completely healthy to me. Wish I could get the ability to sleep during the daytime that only happens during the weekends.

Sometimes I'll rest my eyes for 15-30 minutes. It honestly does wonders.

At my job I have to wake up early (5:30 AM) and when I get back after the first round of work I've always enjoyed taking a nice nap. Naps are great.

You're fine. Some of the brightest and healthiest folks I know nap on a daily basis.

That said, when people talk about an itch, you're inclined to feel like scratching!

This thread made me sleepy.

G'night RL.

o well this is ok I guess

It's kinda funny how you're asking if catnaps are unhealthy, yet you only get 4-5 hours sleep in the first place.
Nah man, more sleep is always healthy. 4-5 hour nighttime sleep is not.

I usually sleep about 6-7 hours at night and then sleep for a couple hours in the afternoon (1-3pm - I work evenings). If I do something in the afternoon and don't take a nap I'm really tired at work. There is a huge difference. In my last job I had to endure sleep deprivation for years, and hated that more than anything else. If you need sleep, sleep. On average people should get 8 hours, but some people function on less, others need more to be at peak. I heard somewhere that if you use an alarm clock, that means you don't get enough sleep. So basically most people are sleep deprived to some extent. (Yawn). Think I'll take nap.

Hah!
son that is a heap of stinky horseshit ....
sorry my little tap dancing cossack , but it is .
when was the last time that you sprang out of your bed with a springy- spring -spring in your step....?.....yeah? ages ago.
it is obvious that you do not get anything like enough sleep for a growing lad, especially a cossack..
dont get me wrong, i agree its good to get a bit of shut eye after hard work, if you can. (anyway there is a whole heap of worse ways to pass the time)
BUT not instead of a good night's*beauty sleep.
what me a hypocrite!?!?.....nah...
sweet dreams.......
and anyway seeing as all Cossacks talk loud nonsense in their sleep, it provides a bit of light relief for us senior cossacks...

I have a toddler, and napping in the day is a necessity for me. When I have him all day I sleep when he sleeps, but sometimes I sleep longer if there's a willing family member around to amuse him for a bit.

i don't take naps because i generally sleep 18 hours a day. but when i'm too full of eucalyptus leaves, i'll doze off a bit for 3 hours or so. life as a koala bear isn't too bad, you should try it out some time
