Whenever I listen to Waka Flocka Flame I want to destroy everything around me. That's not cos I'm one of the boring hip hop purists who thinks Waka represents everything bad about modern music, but because Waka is just to outrageously, ridiculously... violent. It's absurd.

Maybe some black metal stuff, or minimal techno. idk.

lol, I was thinking Flocka just reading the title.

Every time I listen to Flocka I go apeshit.

I suppose it's pretty pedestrian but RATM 'Sleep Now In The Fire' always makes my hair stand on end and fists clench wanting to just go fucking ape.

Especially the part that goes..

'Follow me into tommorow, I'll drag you do the grave
I'm deep inside your children, they'll betray you in my name'
(and then that awesome riff!!)

Got worked up then just writing it hehe

With the exception of Solar Storm, you guys listen to crap. I think listening to that bilge would make me want to break things too, perhaps the deck? Or maybe my ear drums.

lol pink floyd

LOL, shitty commercial hip-hop on a major record label, whose music videos objectify women, and doubtless the lyrics do to but as they are pretty much unintelligable I guess that doesn't really matter.

i don't think a pink floyd fan can really complain about commercial music or major record labels.

i don't think a pink floyd fan can really complain about commercial music or major record labels.

Except the difference is that a hip hop act on a major label is like a band like Joy Division being on one, which rather goes against the very statement of intent. And I see that you have no comment on the objectification of women. How many Pink Floyd lyrics contain anything akin to the following:

"Well I'm tryna hit the hotel with two girls that swallow dick
Take this dick and swallow bay mascato got her freaky
Hey you got me in a trance, please take off your pants
Pussy pop on a handstand you got me sweating please pass me a fan DAMN!!"

So not just objectifying women in the videos, but also the lyrics too. Nice.

At least the people who cite ratm can be assured that they aren't going to play an album and listen to 45 minutes of a misogynistic asshole who thinks that women, sorry I know he prefers '*****' or 'ho', exist only to "swallow dick".

You don't hear Sage Francis employ that kind of bullshit.

Your methodology's way off. You do realize that you can appreciate certain elements of a work while despising others, right? A lot of the music I listen to contains elements that are overtly sexist, but that doesn't mean I immediately write the whole thing off as shit. It's a matter of appreciating those facets that appeal to you while openly criticizing those you object to. I'm a total film nerd, does watching The Birth of a Nation or Triumph of the Will make me racist?

I'm not saying we should go around championing and supporting guys like Waka Flame without recognizing the misogyny he (and others) project, but we can still appreciate whatever artistry we may find in it (I dunno, I've never heard him) while simultaneously confronting and subverting whatever objectionable aspects are present.

It's a hard thing to reconcile, and it's made even worse by the fact that we live in a society where sexism (and every other ism) is present literally everywhere we turn in more implicit forms that are equally as damaging (if not more) as the overt type found in Waka's lyrics.

Anyway, back to the thread....

Any mainstream dubstep tune will do the trick if you got a semi-decent sound system. (Bass is mandatory)

Liking that genre is hard i know ;) I used to dislike it. I used to listen to all genre of metal music. Never felt any kind of primal sensation with that genre. Then i switched to electronica music...Now i don't need drugs anymore to feel high. Especially while listening to Dub. :)

Then you have to hear this... Volume up, bass higher, the only way to listen. It's fantastic... :)
