Feel a deep sense of 'we told you so'. Why are people surprised that, after years of institutional racism within the Met and many other police forces, after years of racist stop-and-search, after years of a lack of engagement with communities in inner cities and after years of unemployment, cuts to education and drops in living standards, many working class people fucking hate the police?
Why, why, why? I genuinely don't understand it. It's fucking obvious. Why weren't wealthy people out rioting? Why weren't the 'middle class' types from Hampstead, Ealing, Maida Vale and Belgravia out looting for all they could get? Why weren't lawyers, accountants and middle-level managers out fighting the bastards?
I mean, I know the official report is a whitewash and didn't interview a single fucking rioter, but what do the bastards and the politicians think will happen? That they can just threaten more cuts to welfare payments, send a few people to jail for long periods without due process and that this will all go away?
The Autumn budget statement gave us an incling of how long - and how deep - these cuts will be. Public sector debt as a percentage of GDP is not forecast to fall before 2017, meaning nearly a decade of cuts, privatisations, job losses and most likely a fall in real living standards for workers (when you take into account relatively high inflation).
What do they think is gonna happen, that people have 'had their riots' and are now just gonna sit at home after they get laid off, after their kids are denied educational opportunity and after their friends and family die on NHS beds waiting for simple operations?
Fucking hell, the Capitalists are either stupid, utterly evil or both. They'll get what's coming to them and all those twattish Chicago trader-types who threw Maccy Ds job application forms on the Occupy group will have nobody to blame but themselves.
