View Full Version : Reaching Working Class Youth

What is a good method to reach out to the youth in working class neighborhoods especially. I ask this because this is where many fascists/nationalists recruit from as well, and I am sorry to say it seems that they have been doing a much better job, at least here.

It is a lot easier for people to turn to nationalism/fascism etc. because it is much simpler to tell somebody "that (gypsy/Jew/black/ etc. ), and everybody who looks like him is your enemy" rather than explain to them the class struggle and workers solidarity.

People want enemies they can point out and rally against easily. How do we simplify the message so that people can be motivated to look deeper into what is wrong with the system? Not to simply be turned against the minorities, leftists, etc.

Kind of related, prior to a gay pride parade here in Serbia where there was tension, there was some graffiti I saw which said "Who fucks you? The Gays, or your bosses/politicians/managers?" (It makes more sense in our language. :P)

I liked the message because it was simple and could motivate people to think at least for a moment.

It isn't hard to infect the youth with leftist ideas if you find a good tool. I've schooled my brother in basic Marxist thought and now he is in his school talking to youths who were on the road to becoming serious nationalists or worse and he is managing to convert some of them. I'm really proud of my little commissar :).

Although he has gotten in a fight before because my mother is a Muslim. However, this was solved when I went out and told them the next time I hear hate speech like that I am going to come and convert them all to Islam. I said I would "Turn the into Turks" (again makes more sense in our language).

So it isn't hard to do if you can get some basic leftist thought in the schools, neighborhoods, etc. However, it is hard getting the message to the youth so that they themselves can spread it. I mean nobody listens to the guy who is out there passing out flyers and talking. They listen best to each other. One indoctrinated youth can turn five of his friends into good leftists. The question is: How do we indoctrinate the initial youth?

People would be surprised at how divergent youth are in different areas, and how different groups find different things appealing. So different methods are going to work differently where they are implemented. Just remember that.

You could either befriend some of the youth and convert them, you could infiltrate (if we're talking organized fascism, like fascist organizations or clubs, and not teenagers who think the SS was cool and like to spray paint walls) infiltration is effective, but risky, just look at Nox getting his profile hacked  Depending on the Leftist/Socialist population, you could start organizing and spreading propaganda (just leaflets or what ever). Just what ever you think would work, comrade.

Fascism is either spreading because one or two kids watched a documentary on Hitler and thought it was cool, and told their friends, or an adult figure or appealing organization with a fascist agenda got a hold of some of them. Respectable adult figures and/or organization have more of an influence than the adolescent hierarchy's leader (the leader of a group of kids, in school).

1. You can recruit from racial minorities
2. No one likes the rich outside of America
3. Class warfare isn't too complicated
-->Imperialism is bad, it keeps our country poor
-->Racism divides our class
-->The rich profit from imperialism and want to maintain it

I think one key thing would be to provide some sort of practical organization/space/resources. Rather than looking to "recruit" by spouting ideology, an emphasis on leading the way with action and organization is often what wins people over. Nationalist gangs are often able to provide physical protection, they often have spaces where they throw shows/parties/host speakers. Radicals should be capable of doing the same - what does your working class neighbourhood lack? Is there a way you can provide it while operating within a radical framework? That shit is key.

Your goal should never be to "indoctrinate" anyone.

:shrugs: i don't think our goal should be to make the equivalent of nationalist gangs but red. i mean they still are subcultural politics. if you want some answers, antifascist groups and some "reds' associated with antifascism use similar recruitment tactics than gutter right gangs. there are antifa and "red" football firms, spaces for antifa skins to host their shows, a celebration for violence and nihilism. in some places, antifas clearly overshadow nationalist gangs and they seem to recruit from the same demographic. i dont see it as necessarily positive though

Subcultural "antifascist action" has resulted in some pretty entertaining pictures/videos, though. Like that confrontation between NSM and ARA in New Jersey recently, IIRC. Didn't some Nazi meathead get a chair bounced off his thick skull or something during that one? A totally pointless action in the grand scheme of things, no one takes NSM bozos seriously, but an action worthy of my applause none-the-less.
