Spilled a drink on my laptop earlier, soon the keyboard was messing up, then it didnt work at all.
I would remove and replace the keyboard but I can't because one of the screws is messed up, and I can't send it back to the company (dell) because my warranty is over. So I'm screwed.
£1100 down the drain. How did your day go?

Well what the fuck did you do that for?
Refurbished Dells: http://www.dell.co.uk/outlet
My dad snagged one labeled "scratch and dent" a few years back that was about 1/3 the retail price. The 'scratch and dent' was a barely-visible speck on the lid.
I'd have recommended New Egg instead but I don't think they ship to the UK.
As far as my day, I spent six hours loading pine logs onto a flat bed trailer, then driving it to the dump, going back, repeat. Got $100 for it, though.

The one I got was refurbished.
I am seriously considering some sort of action against the company that sold me this, there was no mention whatsoever of the damaged screw, in fact the laptop was described as being as good as new.

Nox have you ever heard of grab-it? I don't know if the UK has home depots, but they sell it there. It can drill into stripped screws and pull them out.

buy a Logitech external keyboard-- wireless or wired. The wired model runs about $20 in the US-- about what? 12 quid in Britain?

In the UK, do you guys have the same kind of credit card chargeback/refund rights as in the US? (if you paid with a CC)
By the way, I didn't mean for that last post to make me come across as a dick like it did. Part of my odd sense of humor.

£1100 for a refurbished Dell laptop? Is it studded with Diamonds? What are it's specs?
If you can't afford a new laptop, do what S.Artesian said. Technika keyboards are kinda cheap, I have one and spilled all kinds of shit on it, still going strong.

Don't laugh ok?
It's an Alienware
Buying that was the biggest mistake of my life.

Interesting... How does that work?

it taps a counter clockwise thread in the head, if you then flip the bit you can unscrew the screw:

Still don't understand it, but fair enough.
Would it work if they head of the screw is supposed to be a phillips hole but it just a round hole?
Also, the screw in question is very small, does this work on any size?
