Why would you want to try and sabotage the system that pays for RevLeft's server bills by getting everyone to block the ads?

This is like a big "Fuck You" to the forum and its maintainers

yes people, if you all would not humor the existence of the ads revleft would have to close down or start husseling you for donations you dont want to give again.
please take this into consideration before you view this site with an adblocker.

thanks Canis I continue to use Addblock, but taken Revleft off the list. Seems the only sensible option.....AS YOU RIGHTLY POINT OUT, it pays the server bills.

If Revleft lived solely on donations, why would it have ads??

we tried but it always came down to 2 or 3 (mostly admins) footing 80 to 90% of the money needed each month, i assume its just that our membership are so prole that they cant afford to miss any money

(no nazi reference, quit conflating germans with nazis)

Yah I am a cheap poor bastard, so I never gave money. The ads will make you laugh on occasion. like right now "google for veterans and families". whacky.

Perhaps I'm confused, but I wasn't aware that simply 'blocking' the ad loses the site any money. Does the site get money every time someone loads a page with an ad on it? If so, why not just sit here re-loading the page for an hour - that should pay for the month? If not, how does blocking the ad hurt us? Those who block the ads aren't going to click on them anyway...

The ad displayed right now is for Google Adwords.

Coincidence?

Probably not.

Google has extremely good algorithms (no surprise there) they know how many people visit the public fora with and without adblockeres, we get paid a certain amount based on our individual visitors that can actually see the ads and per click on each ad.
Sadly their algorithms are also extremely good at picking up the slightest fraudulent attempt to raise those numbers and they will throw us out of the program without a second thought.
So except encouraging to exclude us from your adblockeres we strongly ask you also not to suddenly start clicking the ads to bolster revenue, it will only backfire.

The two main methods of generating money using third-party online advertising are CPC, cost per click, and CPM, cost per 1000 views.
Most advertisement companies use a combination.
