2011 Chit Chat Survey (Awards at 10pm UK time)

65 members sent in nominations, and the following is the results of the survey. Not all questions, either in the Survey or the Awards, were answered by all who sent in nominations, so not every question got 65 replies.

Age

RevLeft is sometimes seen by both some members and outsiders as a place full of teenagers, and whilst the following results do show an obvious young majority in our membership, it is those in their twenties who are the majority.

Biological Sex

This one is a foregone conclusion every year, and it would be nice to have more female members. As is predictable, males vastly outnumber females.

Gender Identity

As expected, most of the male members who sent in nominations seem to consider themselves cisgender, so whilst this new question is also a foregone conclusion, I thought it would make an interesting statistic to see in the Survey.

Sexuality

Most of the members who sent in their answers identify as heterosexual.

Country of Birth

Not surprisingly, Americans make up a large portion, if not the slight majority, of our members, and this is reflected in the results shown below. Instances where people have replied with regions or nations within a country (such as those of the UK) have been recorded.

Country of Residence

This question has similar results to the last one, with the United States being the most common country of residence for those who sent in nominations.

Mother Tongue

Not surprisingly, English is predominant in the results, as can be seen below.

Number of Languages Spoken

Most members are at least bilingual, at least by looking at the results below, whilst some show their polyglot tendencies quite well, with some members being able to speak more than three languages.

Ideology

This question received quite a diversity of answers, and so there is no chart. Instead, I've just created a table for the results, as can be seen below.

Religion

Most of the members who gave answers are atheists, although there is a lot of variety in the answers, and we do have some religious members.

A large portion of our members are either students or unemployed, reflecting the site's young, working-class demographic.

Year of Joining Revleft

These range from 2003 up until the present day, with a large majority having joined in the last five years.
