Complains about our bloated welfare state, but has her four girls on state's subsided health insurance and state coupons.

Just found out today on Facebook. Her reason for being on the program?

"I think it's a horribly run, not something the state should be providing but I will make my taxes back in any way I can. "

BTW: I posted this on r/socialism a few hours ago and damn. I think it's the first time I ever got the top of the page before on Reddit.

If you don't know what my title references: http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/scumbag-steve

Maybe she realizes that part of her taxes are going to programs that she actually needs. Maybe she can write a novel and be just like Ayn Rand.

Sometimes I wish those who *****ed about social programs could be barred from using them. I know an awful lot of conservatives on unemployment assistance.

Why does saying a policy is inefficient/wasteful preclude you from taking free money?

I recognize that my above statement was reactionary and politically incorrect. I don't want people to suffer for expressing their opinions. It would be nice if they could show a little more class-solidarity.

My sister voted for the Conservatives after taking a bloody online poll. She didn't really understand some of my rants at her for being moronic but she definitely did understand that the Conservatives later cut child-benefits and she had to pick up more hours at work in order to afford to look after her kid.

Some people are just ignorant; not exactly stupid but they just haven't yet come to an understanding that when society is formed to look after everyone instead of just those with money it is fairer.

I see nothing inherently wrong with this statement. I don't agree with the position, but there's literally no reason whatsoever for anybody to be all "oh, sickeningly hypocritical!!!"

Example: I earn 20 coins a week. I have to pay 5 coins in tax, to pay for various social programs. This leaves me with 15 coins, which isn't enough to live on. Therefore, the social programs give me, say, 3 coins, so that I have 18 coins. I think it would be better if we did away with the social programs, did away with tax, so that I would have my 20 coins and everything would be fine and dandy. But I would be a complete fucking loony if I refused to take the 3 coins from the social on principle alone and starved to death. In fact, taking the 3 coins means it's almost like I'm only paying 2 coins in tax, rather than 5; I'm making my taxes back. But ideally there should be no taxes, and then I'd be even better off.

Simple proposition. It's coherent, it's (almost) logical. Of course it's not quite as simple as that, and there's not exactly a neat match-up between taxes you have or haven't paid and benefits you do or don't receive (and the money the individual in question receives may exceed the tax they pay, who knows, I haven't quizzed them on their finances), but that's no reason for anybody to start with some kind of hysterical tantrum. Particularly if they have ever paid a penny in tax on anything and then gone around all "fuck da police (that is paid for with my taxes)" or bought stuff from a shop and then been all "capitalists are exploiters, fuck capitalism" or whatever else people do.

Of course if this tantrum-thrower happens to have burnt all their money and left society to go and live in a hole in the forest somewhere wearing animal skins and surviving by eating moss, so as not to support the State, the capitalist system or any other exploitative institution in any way whatsoever then I might just allow them to criticise. But anybody else who does is...wait for...a big ol' hypocrite

Exactly, according to the verbatim statement posted by the OP this person isn't really saying that people on welfare don't deserve any money, which would be hypocritical, she just thinks it's a flawed system. It's not really the same thing but I obviously can't vouch for the rest of her opinions on the welfare state and the poor etc so whatever.
