"Several other Russian politicians have also declared their presidential ambitions."

Wow, Russia has candidates?

And here I was, silly me, thinking the ballot looked like:

__ Putin
__ Putin
__ Putin with henchman Medvedev
__ Putin

Russia has candidates much like the US has from "third parties", they are on the ballot but have next to no chance of gaining any seats in parliament or the presidency.

I can guarantee that Putin will be elected.

As for who I think should be elected, probably Zyuganov. State Capitalism would be much better than the shitty situation Russia is in now.

Anyone except Zhirinovsky. He's a fucking lunatic.

Responding to the accusation that Russian politics has no new faces, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin promptly went in for plastic surgery.

Anyone notice KPRF standing on a "no immigration" policy this time. I guess populist slogans arent the reserve of LDPR after all.

Calling the KPRF populist is grossly unfair to all actual populists, such as your average OWS participant.

Their anti-immigration stand is hardly surprising, being as they are also gaybashers and Jew-haters, not to mention Chechen haters.

Probably MCP's too. Lord only knows what their stand is on "the woman question," but I'll bet a lot of rubles it ain't too swift.

While we're discussing the KPRF's nationalism, why is the left wing of that organization nostalgic for Lenin's Soviet Union instead of rediscovering Stalin's larger, more unitary RSFSR (http://www.revleft.com/vb/nationalities-soviet-union-t61251/index.html) - and advocating the latter for most of or all of the post-Soviet space?

Lenin didn't foresee the possibility of Balkanization, unlike the People's Commissar for Nationalities.

the People's Commissar for Nationalities.

Stalin ?

I think a lot of people would blame stalin for the isolation and eventual disintegration of the USSR because of his failure to support/betrayal of foreign revolutions.

That list is shit. Both Zhirinovsky and Zyuganov are deeply hated, never heard about Limonov

Which I should add are apparently banned now. Not that they were politically significant anyway though.
