Has anyone seen the movie or read the book White Oleander? I've just seen the movie and I loved it. Is the book better than the movie, like always?

I read the book in 1998 or 1999 and loved it. I thought it was wonderful- i couldnt put it down. I made everyone buy it and i bought it as gifts for people as well.

I havent seen the movie- i refuse to see it because i dont think it will do the book any justice. Im afraid i will hate it.

But i definitely suggest reading the book. Movies can never really capture you in the same way that books can- it misses out on a lot of detail, misses essential parts/points, and it really doesnt allow for you to use your own mind/images of how the story is pulling together, get what im saying? So yeah, read the book.

Thanks for your comments SenoraChe. I know what you mean. I saw the movie Angela's Ashes before I read the book and loved the movie. However, once I read the book and saw the movie again, I wasn't as impressed as before for the reasons you listed. Anyway, you should still see the movie, you have nothing to loose except a portion of time in your life and a few bucks renting it, lol. ;)
