This thread is for non-political discussion within the Opposing Ideologies forum. Observe however, that oneliners and spam posts are not allowed; as opposed to the old 'chatter' - threads, posts made in this one are expected to have some kind of meaningful content and are to consist more than one line.

Please see the Opposing Ideologies Forum Guidelines (http://www.revleft.com/vb/opposing-ideologies-forum-t165421/index.html) for the explanation behind these rules. Kindly respect though, that this thread is not meant for discussion about them, or board policy in general. Such posts will end up in the trashcan.

Enjoy your posting!

EDIT: modified the oneliner rule for practical reasons.

Does the three line minimum also count to questions you want to ask a user based on a post or opinion or do we have to draw it out over three sentences?

The level of discussion is a little dissapointing, threads about economics, actual politics, theory, current events, get little attention, but some post modern asshole who is obviously trolling gets tons, or some guy rehashing old arguments gets tons, or some guy saying muslims are terrorists. Unfortunately I don't know how long this forum is gonna be a place for vibrant discussion.

Does anybody else find the Scottish accent hot? Well I think any accent is hot, but that deep Scottish is much hotter than any other accent. What's weird is that I hated those accents when I was a kid, but now I find it attractive.

Not with a woman.
not with a girl.
not with a female.

socialistjustin
2nd December 2011, 10:39
That's the hottest. The male accent is still attractive, but its when the women have the deep accent that it gets more attractive.

Hope I'm not sounding sexist in any way, with the stricter policies I would hate to get restricted to this place.

Hey Hindsight, how can I get my cat to let me put the ear tick liquid in her ears without her running? She understands what I'm doing because she comes back to let me do the other ear, but its annoying to have her run and have her get the liquid all over her face.

PhoenixAsh

1: You can solve this as follows:

http://icanhascheezburger.files.wordpress.com/2010/05/funny-pictures-cat-is-wrapped-like-burrito.jpg

2: or you could leash your cat so it can't run.
3: but cats will always run when they feel liquid in their ear
4: I usually just held them tight
5: They didn't like it as much but it was for their own good
6: alternatively you can do this when feeding...maybe the cat won't run then.
7: or....but I assume there is a time limit...you can use the pavlov method by giving it a candy right before and after you do the drips.
8: make sure you let the cat know you have another candy/treat for her/him so they will focus on that

I would be happy if anyone tried to raise the level of political debate IN THE PART OF THE FORUM FOR POLITICAL DEBATE. This only threads that get attention here are bullshit troll threads that are re-hashing the same stuff. Its difficult to write 3 sentances when you only want to make a simple, basic, single point.

Yeah I usually give her a treat after and it works a bit better. The thing I'm worried about is if she gets the medicine in her eye or mouth. Never tried a leash, but she would probably accept it so maybe I will try that.

1: Cats are funny creatures with their own will.
2: Our cats were like that to, when we had to give them eye drops or something like that.
3: But I usually restrained them because leashes didn't work.

Posts discussing board policy, which were explicitly forbidden in the OP and generally aren't meant to be discussed in this forum, and troll posts have been trashed. Now, there are two possible ways forward from here; either people follow the rules of the offtopic thread, or there will be no offtopic thread at all.

Did you guys think there always was one? Nope, it was only a few years ago that I (yes, I) proposed the starting of one to Jazzratt. I think it is necessary as a valve to keep non-political stuff from flooding the main forum.

It was however never meant to be a place where people can simply spam up their post counts by posting pictures and oneliners (do you guys think Bud Struggle would have gotten to over 10 000 posts without it).

As for the three sentences rule, it simply means that oneliners aren't allowed, as they aren't anywhere except chit chat, where posts don't count:

Spam/One-Line Posts

Please do not post any one-line posts like "I agree", "Good point", "Hear, Hear", or whatever to increase your post count. If you have nothing productive to say, don't say it! Notorious spammers/one-line posters will be banned.

Now, let's see how this goes. If people keep breaking the rules this thread will be removed. :(

So sentinel explain to me why exactly you consider my icehockey video spam. Seeing as it is non-political and has relevance and is meaningful because I wanted to share it and talk about icehockey. Maybe you should explain how exactly you envision your rules and what you mean with them because I understand fuck all about this being a non political thread which doesn't allow non political posts because they are considered spam. You are killing this forum dude.

RGacky3

Is there any benefit to having a high post count? I don't see any. Bud struggle being in the RC was acutally a good thing, it was when he tried to derail proper discussions when he was a problem.

One more time, I'm not doing this on a whim. The BA elected me to mod this forum on this specific platform. I outlined it clearly, before I was elected to the position.

This thread is not for discussing board policy, use the avenues available for that: start a thread in the members forum for that purpose or make a proposal for rule change in the CU proposal forum.

If you want to make posts about ice hockey, that is fine as long as they don't contain discussions about board policy and/or trolling. If they do they will be trashed.

I hope this is clear for all now.

I am asking you for an explanation of the rules which you are implementing which are not clear at all.....but which you seem to refuse to give.

You can skim around this by refering what you did or did not outline to the BA....but the fact of the matter is that the members need to know exactly what you mean. nd since you closed the sticky on the rules and YOU brought it up here I think my question is relevant and should be adressd. And doing so in the members area kind of beats the purpose since restricted users have no acces to that and can not see the explanation.

Otherwise this becomes arbitrary bullshit. I am not questioning the rules I am asking you for clarification which YOU made relevant by deleting non-political posts and designating them as spam in a non political forum. Quite obviously the rules are not clear to users. So clearly YOU did not communicate the rules well.

Wether or not you did to the BA is of no consequence and quite a few people mods and admins were very surprised to learn you closed RC.

Not to mention the fact that you also closed my comment on how my day was so far. Which did not question board policy but expressed my sadness about the closing of RC. So what? Now THAT is considered questioning of the board rules? You can't say you are sad? You also deleted my cat posts which did NOT contain ANY reference to board policy AT all.

You know I find politics terribly boring. I mean, it's such a pile of codswallop with absolutely no potential to enact serious social change; it's all just about rearranging sticks, rather than doing away with the sticks altogether. As far as I'm concerned, all political movements are inherently reformist; even 'revolution' (as it is generally understood in contemporary parlance) is a lifeless, impotent act of reform following some 'moment,' an election by force, a ritualistic 'shift of power' from one group to another, from the status quo to the group that will enact the 'necessary' political reforms, who will rearrange society's institutions - this may be adequate for partial liberation, for a simple amelioration of circumstance, but anarchy can never come about through politics, even supposedly anarchic politics, nor by these reforming 'revolutions;' it requires a reaching beyond politics, beyond this outdated concept of 'revolution,' surpassing them both before they even begin to realise themselves. I think that anybody who puts their faith in politics or the political has given up all hope for a better existence, has resigned themselves to imperfection and compromise, to procrastination, to worthless dreams of some far off quasi-messianic age.

Therefore I'll never acknowledge the political, in whatever form it takes, because it will always be an anachronism, a set of lifeless institutions with no worth, nor with any potential. Contemporary 'revolutionaries' are half way there, by rejecting the extant political system, by recognising its impotence, yet still they cling to their notions of 'revolution,' convinced that it will return the political's lost potence to it. This, however, is an incomplete act, it calls only for a partial revolution, a papering over the cracks; there can be nothing more revolutionary than the complete rejection of politics as a concept, as a form of social organisation, and there will be no revolution worthy of the name which does not exit politics entirely, which does not result in the wholesale abolition of politics in all its innumerable forms. This is not to say, however, that I believe there will ever come a time when revolution will not be required, when politics will finally be overcome, when people will no longer turn to it as their own little medicine.

This is more than non-political discussion - this is anti-political discussion :)

Okay, so I've modified the rule against oneliners, for practical reasons. There will be no limit on the amount of sentences -- they'll simply have to be longer than one line and have some kind meaningful content (pure spam won't be tolerated). I hope this satisfies some people.

Smyg

Hemmingway would not have approved. Setting a lenght limit is pointless in my opinion, as long as the message is valid. If a question is asked, and a short reply is a sufficient answer, then must the concise message be fluffed up with meaningless padding? Sounds odd to me.

There comes a day in every musician's life when they decide to pull the cable out of their guitar and just swing it around their heads and hit stuff with it and hit their guitar with it and turn the electrical crackle up to 11 and just go totally crazy with that shit, before eventually they think to themselves "what on Earth have I become...?"

On another (semi-unrelated) note, does anyone ever feel at times like you're spelling a word wrong (one that you usually write out every day)? Like just now, I typed about my carpet - and I could swear I spelled it wrong.

Maybe I'm just tired (yeah, let's go with that).

So in Holland we have karpet and parket. Basically two different things to cover your floor with.

I have neither...I have a wooden floor. I'll post a picture later. Because right now I am bussy...see picture.

Cooking btw is not as hard a it may appear. Mousakka is basically sauce, ground beef, eggplant slices, herbs mixed throug...topped with slices of potato and gratef cheese. You could add onions through the sauce and garlic.Put in oven at 180 for 40 minutes and eat.

Got a recipe for moussaka? Looks pretty good.

PhoenixAsh
5th December 2011, 11:15
Moussaka is a casserole made by layering eggplant with a spiced meat filling then topping it off with a creamy bechamel sauce that is baked to golden perfection.

It is perhaps the most widely recognized of all Greek dishes and was made famous by the legendary Greek chef, Nicholas Tselementes.

This eggplant version is the traditional rendition, however you can also layer in potatoes, zucchini, or whatever vegetables you prefer. It's hearty and filling so you won't need many side dishes.

While it can be time consuming to prepare, I think you will find that once complete it is a very worthwhile endeavor.

Prep Time: 2 hours

Cook Time: 45 minutes

Total Time: 2 hours, 45 minutes

Ingredients:

3-4 eggplants, about 4 lbs. total
1 lb. potatoes
1 1/2 lbs. ground beef (or lamb)
2 large onions, finely diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup red wine
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground allspice
1 cup tomato puree (or crushed tomatoes)
2 tbsp. tomato paste
1 tsp. sugar
Salt and pepper to taste
2 cups plain breadcrumbs
8 egg whites, lightly beaten (reserve yolks for bechamel)
1 cup grated Kefalotyri or Parmesan cheese

Bechamel Sauce:
1 cup salted butter (2 sticks)
1 cup flour
4 cups milk, warmed
8 egg yolks, lightly beaten
Pinch of ground nutmeg
Preparation:

Prep the Vegetables:
Using a sharp peeler, partially peel the eggplants, leaving strips of peel about 1 inch wide around the eggplant. Slice the eggplant in to 1/2 inch slices. Place the eggplant slices in a colander and salt them liberally. (edit: NO! not too much salt!!!) Cover them with an inverted plate that is weighted down by a heavy can or jar. Place the colander in the sink so that excess moisture can be drawn out. They will need to sit for at least 15-20 minutes, preferably an hour. The salt also helps to remove some of the bitterness of the eggplant. (edit: the bitter taste of eggplants is something I have never really noticed. But maybe this may vary as vegetable tastes vary from region to region. Also...if you grill them in a grill pan then you do not need to do the weighing down part. I have never done this btw...)

Peel the potatoes and boil them whole until they are just done. They should not get too soft, just cooked enough so that they no longer crunch. Drain, cool and slice them in 1/4 inch slices. Set aside.

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

Line two baking sheets with aluminum foil and lightly grease. Add a splash of water to the egg whites and beat them lightly with a fork. Add breadcrumbs to a flat plate.

Rinse the eggplant slices and dry with paper towels. Dip the eggplant slices in the beaten egg whites and then dredge them in the breadcrumbs, coating both sides. Place breaded eggplant slices on baking sheets and bake at 400 degrees for 1/2 an hour, turning them over once during cooking.

When eggplant is finished cooking, lower the oven temperature to 350 degrees.

Make the Meat Filling:
In a large sauté pan, brown the ground beef (or lamb) until the pink color disappears. Add onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.

Add wine to pan and allow it to simmer and reduce a bit before adding cinnamon, allspice, parsley, tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, and sugar. Allow the sauce to simmer uncovered for approximately 15 minutes so that excess liquid can evaporate. It should be a drier, chunkier, tomato sauce. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

Make the Béchamel Sauce:
Melt butter over low heat. Using a whisk, add flour to melted butter whisking continuously to make a smooth paste. Allow the flour to cook for a minute but do not allow it to brown.

Add warmed milk to mixture in a steady stream, whisking continuously.

Simmer over low heat until it thickens a bit but does not boil.

Remove from heat, and stir in beaten egg yolks and pinch of nutmeg. Return to heat and stir until sauce thickens.

Assemble the Moussaka:
Lightly grease a large deep baking pan (lasagna pan). Sprinkle the bottom of pan with breadcrumbs. Leaving a 1/4 inch space around the edges of the pan, place a layer of potatoes on the bottom. Top with a layer of eggplant slices.

Add meat sauce on top of eggplant layer and sprinkle with 1/4 of the grated cheese. Top with another layer of eggplant slices and sprinkle once again with 1/4 of the grated cheese.

Pour the béchamel sauce over the eggplant and be sure to allow sauce to fill the sides and corners of the pan. Smooth the béchamel on top with a spatula and sprinkle with remaining grated cheese. Bake in a 350-degree oven for 45 minutes or until béchamel sauce is a nice golden brown color. Allow to cool for 15 – 20 minutes before slicing and serving.

You can make this dish ahead up until the béchamel sauce and refrigerate. Make the béchamel sauce right before you intend to bake it.

edit: you can also buy the sauce....somewhere...
edit: you do not need to do the eggplant oven thing. You can grill them...but its tastyer if you do it in the oven.

While on the topic of ingredients for tacos and enchiladas, I usually take the tortilla bread, spread some tomato sauce on it, cover it with the cheapest cheese I can buy and maybe top it off with some ham if i'm feeling adventurous. Put it in the microwave and BAM, you've got yourself a mini pizza. Delicious.

Personally I find that my local Costco sells the BEST tortillas. They come uncooked so you have to cook them in a pan but doing so is fun and they are so damn good. This is why whenever men on the internet tell them to make them a sammich, I dismiss them and retort that I only make quesadillas.

Richard Wolff responds brilliantly to the idea that is you replace corporations with cooperatives but leave the market they will still have to work within a capitalist market.

In other words, you can still have a market with cooperatives but have it not be a capitalist style market, but instead a socialist style market (driven by socialist institutions coordinating production).

Damnit! We used to have a carribean and surinam food take away restaurant here. And it went belly up because of the excessive rents. For 10 bucks you could eat with two people for two days from the meals they made! And god...that was delish.

So now there is a new restaurant like this but it is in a different city and I have to go there by bike and when I get home to food is cold. Which sucks ass.

It is fucking amazing how these restaurants always manage to give you a decent amount of food for half the price in a normal restaurant....and usually it is twice the quality. Family bussiness of people who know what they are doing are superior to anything that Michellin offers.

Clearly you've never been to a Sombra-family gathering, then, kind sir! For if you had you would have no choice but to retract this statement...

I generally don't eat breakfast, actually. When it comes to somewhat leftfield offerings, though, top of my list would probably be...a rather large cabbage pie (about 45cm across, 15cm high, made with a whole cabbage ), though that kind of faded into lunch because I was sitting there taking nibbles over the course of about 3-4 hours. Not sure if that really counts.

On the now slightly revised subject of eating excessively at breakfast time: I once ate almost a whole pack of spaghetti (it must have been about 700g dry), 'as it comes,' with no sauce, oil, nothing. After which I, of course, had to go back to bed for a little lie down. Though this was in the brief intersection of my one-meal-a-day phase and my I'm-terribly-underweight-and-need-to-fatten-myself-up-a-bit-by-eating-shitloads-of-carbs phase. Might go some way towards explaining it...

What

Palt is a boiled Swedish dish. The outside is a dough made from flour and shredded potato. Inside we put suit (cow fat) and kidney. The kidney can be replaced by what you want, but our family always uses kidney. They are about the size of a fist or a bit bigger.

My Swedish great great grandmother taught my grandmother how to make it, she taught my mother and aunts and they taught my cousins.

Probably my favourite food.

Depends on the Scottish ''ethnicity'' (or whatever you want to call it) really. The lowlander ''Inglis'' sound too much like the accent of my area (Northumberland), for obvious reasons, but I am partial to Scots Gaelic accents which actually sound not too unlike Irish, and my family are Scots Gaelic mostly, though most of us sound northern English.

Lindahl is a somewhat common name. It goes back to, essentially, the 19th century. As it happens, everyone but the soldiers (they had names like Brave, Steel, Hasty, etc) and the nobles (and they too from the beginning) had -sson names (Johansson, Eriksson, etc.). Patronymic, you know. Women generally had -sdotter (Johansdotter, Eriksdotter, etc.). Eventually, the burghers began copying the noble practice of having more fancy names, and as the 19th century and the industrial revolution came both urban workers and farms did the same, in order to appear less common or escape their heritage.

Lindahl, in this case, is a combination of... I guess in English it would be Small-leaved Lime and Alder, according to Wikipedia at least. Compare Lindbergh.

Its hard to learn things when you're older.

In some instances I can accept that is the case, but what about shit like this:

At the end of the eighties I was working for a company that made software for doctor's offices. I frequently gave demonstrations to small groups of physicians. One of the main concerns was safety. There was so much talk about hackers. Would their patient records be safe from intruders? I explained to them that one could only get into a computer from outside the office if the modem was on, and the computer was running a communication program and acting as a host. At that time, this was a rare situation in private practice. But even the most powerful argument I could think of, "You can't break into a computer that's turned off," did not have the impact I had hoped for. One way or the other they were convinced that a clever hacker would not be stopped by such a trivial problem!

I mean seriously, what the fuck? How can someone get themselves through medical school and become a doctor without at some point realising that any and all electrical devices simply will not function if they are switched off?

It seems to me to be more a failure of logical thinking than a failure to familiarise oneself with new technology. Yet I would have thought that logical thinking is a de facto job requirement of being a doctor.

For anyone following the football (soccer) recently, It was good to see action being taking against two Premier League footballers (John Terry of Chelsea (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-16284813) and Luis Suarez of Liverpool (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/16186556.stm)) for their involvement in recent incidents of on-field racism.

But no...I am gone for a few days and what do I see when I get back? POsts about the fucking weather!!!! About fucking soccer!!!! Yeah...the weather sucks!! We know. We know the weather alwats sucks in England!! We do. How the hell is this any serious topic to be posting here? And soccer? Come on people!! Are you freaking serious??? Fucking soccer? It is a capitalist notion that two teams must compete for one ball! One ball for 22 people!!! And they have to fight over it for who gets it!!! That is capitalism in motion!! In communism....each and every one of those players would get a ball!! I see all these posts...BUT

You may be on to something. My christmas dinners never live up to the hype. And I feel as if we planned a taco christmas It would be something to look forward to that would also be very satisfying and not just a terrible let down...

So yeah...Christmas.....

My Dad and me cooking that 5 course dinner...with the stupid Turkey slaving away for hours on a meal and then at the last minute forgetting the parsley. And my dad getting a little high on wine. He is 72 and he doesn't matabolise the wine as good as he used to...and lamenting how this totally, seriously without question ruined the course. He does this every year. He forgets every year. And it takes him the whole evening to come to terms with the fact that parsley is bloody useless and nobody noticed untill he started ranting about it.

And then my mom (73 since december 10th) wants me to light the Christmas tree...she insists on candles...so every year we are sitting next to a huge fire hazzard which...is placed in front of the bookcase which houses about 1000 additions to a bonfire waiting to happen. And you would expect that after 34 years of me lighting the Christmas tree without any incident she would have SOME confidence in my abilities...but noooooo....she hovers over me with that serious doubting look all mothers get once in a while... (Ow...HS...please becarefull. Don't drop the matchs, son. Please don't move the candels or they might burn a branch).

So yeah....I love Christmas. We get to spend the evening talking about how all her friends became grandmother. And how their children are doing so well in life with their families. Quickly followed by the addition that she is sooooo ok with not being a grandmother yet. And then she looks at me and says: anybody important in your life yet???

Well...at least I hope she isn't trying to match me to the daughter of one of the neighbors.....like last year. "Ow....you know...so-and-so broke up with her boyfriend and she is really sad. Hmm...do you know she is really smart and she has become such a pretty girl. Maybe you could ask her out sometime....here is her number. Ow And I gave her your number just in case you forget to call. "

Really? Are you THAT ok with not being a grandmother yet?

And my dad is going on and on about the fact that I do not have a job yet. And how much that is bad! Yeah, dad...I know....I have no cash remember? And how I should have tried harder in school...so I would have gotten better grades. Like that would have mattered....soemthing I did 18 years ago.

So this year...when they start doing that shit....

I am going to tell them I have discovered I am gay, have a tattoo and that I am dating a lovely strapping lad who works in the porn industry and thinks he can get me a job. I am going to do this when their friends come over at boxing day. I have this all planned out and I downloaded some very revealing pictures on my phone so I can proudly show them to everybody. Then I am going to have a girl friend of mine call me and I am going to pretend it is him.

So tomorrow somebody is going to give me that Tattoo with a magic marker. My parents won't know the difference. I am going to have it be a little fairy on a mushroom.

TAKE THAT PARENTS!!!

You should have given me the Taco Christmas....and that Nintendo when I was younger

Like she really knows anything about Israel or the Middle East in general. I'm sure she thinks she is an authority on the subject because of all the Fox Nexs she's watched about the conflict. I could almost guarantee she knows little history on the area, and even then not past the 1940's and nothing Fox News hasn't told her. I love how people form opinions on subjects they know little to nothing about. "Well I read a book on it and saw some reports on T.V. about it so this is my stance and I'm not moving from it." Guys I need help. I keep going on facebook communism boards and attempting to debate conservatives and libertarian cappies. At one point I was nice and welcoming, then I was just reasonable, but I've lost all hope of trying to explain my points of view, so I've degenerated into simply showing them what massive pieces of shit they all are. I think its made me angrier, and I need calming down, and forgetting about these motherfuckers.

Trust me, it happens to the best of us. I deal with it all the time on this board.

Seeing I cant leave this board, best thing to do is just take a breather of down time, or just ignore the posts that are designed to pull you in and lose it. Its hard, and you will fail occassionally, but hey, what doesnt kill you makes you stronger.

no no...unicorns can only be captured by a virgin. They are sexists buggers too. The virgin needs to be a woman. And virgins are exceedingly rare these days. You almost need a unicorn to find one.

Hindsight, could I sell my services to you as a unicorn hunter? All I ask for is ammunition for my unicorn hunting guns and tacos to sustain myself. And also some pepper spray so I can avoid being raped and keep my job. We have a deal?
Also nobody better sacrifice me to Satan, Lenin, Stalin, or any other entity. Seriously.

Of course, which is why I'm not asking for wages. Just tacos and ammunition. This could be a great partnership here.

Fight Club is probably the last movie I truly loved. But I have been partial to the new Sherlock Holmes movies. Those are great!

(And on another note, I have this urge to start challenging the people who glorify [political] violence to bare knuckle boxing matches. I have a good feeling that I will never actually have to fight a single one of them.)

Because you sacrifice virgins to Lenin, not Stalin...

Communism 101... come on

It was a trick question. The correct answer is that you sacrifice virgins to Marx. Lenin doesn't get virgins, he gets cats. ;)

Well...yeah but your claim of cat hero's has already been disproven ;)

On the other hand...my claim of cats being rarely harmful to children and grown ups because of vicious attacks has not. And a quick google search will substanciate the claim.

On search results for "baby killed by cat/dog" . We get a 43 million against 108 million result return. And for cats the top 5 pages deal with the myth of cats killing babies....while one story leads by saying a cat MAY have killed a baby by...get this...sleeping next to it. While the Top 5 pages of dogs deal with serious injury resulting in death, news paper clippings of funerals of babies and infants which have been killed in vicious dog attacks (inlcuding btw a bizon baby).

So the offset is that dogs may save more humans than cats....but they also kill far more of them. Which renders that argument useless.

Now I am not sure how this makes cats unprincipled....and that is besides the fact that I am not exactly sure how princioples come into play by mauling and infant, baby or toddler come into the equation.

Seem to me cats are far more principled than dogs.

While dogs lay rendered completely useless untill their owner comes back...litterally putting their entire lives on hold....to...once their owner returns be slavishly submissive. Cats simply have a live and a personality regardless of their owner.

Now...cats don't bark yap and snarl at house guests.,,,and they do not try to bite them.

Cats are less loud than dogs.

Cats groom themselves and rarely roll around in dusgusting stinking substances like rotting fish, shit and garbage...because they think it smells nice.

They do not need to be walked 5 times a day....sure...their littterbox starts to smell something aweful after a few days...but cleaning this every two or three days is NOTHING compared to the 15 minimal walks a dog really needs.

And on the subject of litter boxes. Cats have one place to shit and piss. If a dog doesn't get a walk it will dump their shit all over the house....wherever. they have NO sence of sanitation at all. And they sometimes eat their own shit too. Something cats don't do. Much less they lick your face afterwards.

Cats do not slobber all over you. Dogs do...they drool, the jump up on you with their muddy paws and start slobbering. The rare induvidual dog will get so over exited that it pisses itself and pisses over you just because it can NOT control its emotions.

Cats are also way less expensive than dogs to keep. Way less expensive. For the price of one submissive spineless git you can keep 4 cats.

Cats require far less attention than dogs. Dogs need constant attention. Cats do not. Cats can look after themselves and amuse themselves. Dogs on the other hand will constantly focus on what its master does and requires a huge amount of conscious or subconscious reinforcement.

Now cats can be left alone for some extend of time. Dogs can't. Not only because they will shit and piss up the place but they will starve to death simply because they will not and can not themselves dose their food...cats however eat what they need (rare cases excluded). Dogs cannot stand the lack of presence of their owner. Cats can basically do with three days without them.

:)
