Welcome to Opposing Ideologies; please take some time to read these forum specific guidelines.

Code of conduct and general rules

This is meant to be a forum with a serious and political atmosphere, with a minimum of offtopic content. Why, you may ask. I will explain. As the name implies, RevLeft is a discussion board and community for revolutionary leftists. And as explained in the Read this -sticky, the OI section is the part of the forum where those opposing our views are not welcome but tolerated.

That may sound quite harsh, and as a matter of fact civil, polite and respectful OIers do contribute to the quality of this board significantly; they provide a valuable opportunity for 'newbie' leftists to practice their debating skills for real life political activity. So in a sense they are 'welcome'.

But that doesn't change the fact that OI is not meant to be a miniature right wing or anti-communist forum within RevLeft, with it's own surveys, music threads and what not. Neither is it over all meant for socialising between people of different political views, that is what the rest of the Internet is for.

It's meant for political criticisms against revolutionary leftist ideas to be posted and combated. What does this mean in practice?

Quite a few things. The guidelines against spamming will be enforced in a more strict fashion than on the rest of the board. One-line posts, especially ones without political content, are forbidden and will be trashed, repeated offenders will be subject to administrative action (verbal warning followed by infractions).

Needless to say, the same goes for posts consisting of images.

Posts without political content are allowed in the Non-Political Discussion sticky, but observe that the rule against oneliners and spam applies also in that thread.

All other offtopic and non-political posts/threads will be subject to trashing or moving to Chit Chat, and users creating such repeatedly despite being warned will face the consequences -- infractions.

Finally, these rules apply for everyone posting in OI, restricted and regular users alike. If you are a leftist and want to make spammy posts, do it in Chit Chat. If you want to discuss offtopic stuff with the restricted members, do it either by PM, in a serious fashion in the Non-Political sticky, or on some other website.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Let's increase the quality of this forum together!

Appealing your restriction/Unfair Restrictions thread

The Unfair Restrictions sticky is the one and only place where you may appeal to be unrestricted, should you feel your restriction was unfair or that it is no longer warranted. In other words, do not make threads about your restriction - such will be trashed and you will eb infracted.

A word of caution though: read the guidelines in the OP of the UR thread carefully before posting. You are only allowed one (1) post, only restricted members may post there. Any transgressions of these rules will lead to being infracted.
