Comrades!

I plan to send this to some left-leaning newspapers and see what happens. But first I would like to know your opinions on this and suggestions on how to make it better but only constructive criticism please! I know it's terrible but it was worth a try.

Thanks

A teenagers view: The Problems with Capitalism

I am a fifteen-year-old teenager. I am also a socialist. I may be young but I have already seen that the system we live in is broken. I hope that you will forget my age, my naivety and read this from a teenager’s perspective. But please don’t be afraid, not all teenagers are scary! A majority of us are actually quite friendly and knowledgeable!

We all know there are many problems on earth. But from my point of view I think that capitalism is the biggest problem that is facing mankind and Earth. Personally I believe capitalism has exploited the human species and continues to do so everyday. Capitalism isn’t sustainable and we are all feeling the problems and struggling thanks to it. I believe that there are many problems with capitalism. These are:

It exploits mankind
It isn’t fair…
It’s every man for his self…
In a capitalist society men get paid more than women. It is a sexist system.
Capitalism only benefits the few rich and ruling class.
It means that the richest countries bully the less economically developed countries into selling their resources: Capitalism is predatory and unjust,
It leads to poverty, starvation and inequality.
It creates war.
The love of money creates greed and this creates inequality, a wealth gap and ultimately a class divide.
It’s Money before People.

The home of capitalism is the United States. It is meant to be the country of the free, where freedom is allowed and everyone no matter what skin colour remain equal but unfortunately due to capitalism not everyone is equal or free. America has one of the highest rich-poor divide and the differences are huge. How can the world’s richest nation be home to poverty, high unemployment and many other problems? The 1% elite are the only free people this is due to their money. Meanwhile the other 99% remain challenged to be equal especially if you are an ethnic minority. But who is to blame for these inequalities and unjust prejudices? I blame the bankers! (Surprise, Surprise!) They are the ones who got us into the recession and are responsible but the people of Britain are paying the price thanks to savage cuts from the Conservative Government. It sickens me that multimillionaires like George Osborne can potentially decide my future. My generation has suffered most from the savage cuts, for example the brutal scrapping of the EMA and the disgusting cuts to our brilliant public service. I have suffered from both of these as my mother lost her job in the public service and I have also lost the chance potentially to go to university in this country.

But there is a hope! I speak for all teenagers when I say that we are disgusted with The Con-Dem government. We are outraged and want change, real democracy and a chance to actually have a voice even though we can’t vote! We want to be listened too!
Thousands of teenagers have taken to the streets during the ‘Occupy’ protests and we are beginning to get our message across. The system isn’t working and we’re angry! We have also shown our collective power during the Student Protests last year against the catastrophic cuts to the EMA. We want to be listened to!

We, the students stood with our teachers and fellow citizens on the 30th November during the strike. We offered support; we chanted the songs and protected the public pensions. We care about the pensions, as we know it could affect us in a forty or fifty years time, as we are the future public sector workers!

But we feel cheated! We feel exploited and capitalism always exploits. We want change and freedom. Our current government and the system have deceived the British public. Do we care more about bailing out banks or having teachers at your children’s schools? You may think I am a naïve teenager but please read these words and remember them. I am not happy. We need an alternative.
