What I mean is Muslims like Christians are not now and never were or will be one united group Islam includes many Tribal groups such as Turks Kurds Arabs Black Africans and or Asians and Pakistanis many ethnic groups I know many Islamists dream of a 12th Century Caliphate but is this possible given all the diversity of cultures within the Muslim World. Christians have in the past also wanted a Empire a Christian Caliphate but again given that Christians are made up of many cultures races and nation this is unlikely however I believe human beings can unite based on their common class interests not religion don't forget that not all Arab and Middleastern people are Muslims there are Arab Christians in Palestine and and the rest of the Arab World does anyone agree that Muslim and or Christian unity is unlikely ?

I guess I believe in the "alien theory"- If aliens landed, we might all stop fighting other humans/countries and join together against the extraterrestrials.
Same goes for Muslims and Christians. Muslim groups would only join together against Christians and vice versa.
Seems like a silly question given history and even current events, though... :rolleyes:

Do you mean unity between Christians and Muslims? Or unity within Christendom and Islam? Niether are going to occur in anytime soon. It'd be far better if we could simply cast off these competing brands of primitive nonsense, but that isn't likely in any immediate future, either.

Well, Isaac and Ishmael did reunite to pay their respects to their father Abraham - I think a reconciliation of the Abrahamic religions is bound to occur eventually.
Genesis 25:8-9
[8] Then Abraham gave up the ghost, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full of years; and was gathered to his people.
[9] And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is before Mamre;
