"Over 3 million workers are going on strike against pension reforms that would leave the majority worse off."

Worth noting that:
Chancellor George Osborne has said public sector pay rises will be capped at 1% for two years, as he lowered growth forecasts for the UK economy.
The number of public sector jobs set to be lost by 2017 has also been revised up from 400,000 to 710,000.

I wish the fucking BBC stopped changing their figures, this morning it was 18,500 out of 20,000 English schools closed, then it was 57% and now 65%?
Nonetheless, in Brighton we had at the very last 7,500 people on the march and warm welcome from the crowd about continuing this further if the government doesn't back down.

So I think the strike was quite successful - my university was pretty much completely shut down, about 100 on the picket lines and about 200-250 joined the main march in central london. There was quite a heated debate about whether it was appropriate to link arms and physically block the few determined scabs, me and about 7/8 others decided to do this for a bit but quite a few people seemed freaked out by it and didn't think it was appropriate. I thought it was a reasonable thing to do since it was Britain's biggest strike since 1926, and since staff didn't seem to mind... it actually barely proved necessary in the end though, we persuaded the majority not to cross through argument.
Lets keep up the pressure and push for a strike that goes beyond a single day.

We had one report of a teacher walking through a picket line, the bus drivers in the city also said they will not be going through routes that breached picket lines. A successful day, but whether this turns into something is to be much debated. Brighton's crowd seemed on board of further action after hearing some speeches from union members on strike and etc. Most strikers in that march had never been on strike before, so some were a bit anxious which is fair enough.
