Im going to write an essay on schizophrenia, and try to relate this to the current organisation of society, i.e to social influences on (the occurrence of) schizophrenia.
I would very much like opinions on this, and, if possible, links to texts on it. For example Marcuse once said in an interview that this society IS schizophrenic (at least in some aspects), and the people of the coming insurrection talk of a 'diffuse schizophrenia' in this society.
Also, if someone please could answer the question no one in my class (including the teacher) could answer to my satisfaction
What differences, if any, are there between psychosis and schizophrenia?
The only difference i can discern (after reading DSM-IV) is that schizophrenia is more or less chronic condition in which you get alot of psychoses. One thing i would like to know is if the psychotic symptoms of a schizophrenic differ substantially from psychotic symptoms of other psychotics.
