i think there is a tendency among people with marginalized beliefs to believe everyone is "brainwashed" and that is why they dont take up their ideas. they might use more fancy terms like the marcuse herbert "false consciousness" bs.

i don't think being a "communist" in periods of low mass struggle is really a question about "self interest" at all. class struggle invariably is, but to take up the role of a "communist" is not. over the years i've thought about dropping these ideas but i can't. this is because this communist bullshit or whatever has caused me more problems and concerns, both in my inter personal relations, practical relations, and "spiritual" relations than anything else i've taken up. i think i've called myself a communist since i was 14.

there are all these self righteous middle class dickheads that talk down to people for not holding their beliefs. americans know well the rap about "how american people suck" etc. i think to most people politics is white noise really. i remember i complained to someone about how americans tend to identify the people with the state. for example, a lot of americans think chinese are robots and without individuality because of the perceived "faceless bureacuracy" of the CCP. i always told them that most chinese people probably punch in and out and then chill in their free time, like everyone else. but apolitical bliss sometimes seems better for your mental health than anything else really. my point is that its not that everyone else is wrong and "sheep", its just that you have to have some sort of weird mental disorder to be a communist.

my point is that a lot of self percieved messiahs need to chill the fuck out really. its not that they are wrong and you are right, its just that they weight better their priorities and you are insane.

To a certain extent I disagree. Most of the so-called "Apoliticals" are only distanced from ideology and political passion because they believe their politics to be set in stone, their 'ideology'(liberalism) to be unquestionable, and their perception of reality to be correct, therefore believe politics to be useless and a waste of time.

Now people who are apolitical out of the sake of "ideology has a negative impact on my life" is a different story.

Yeah, it's called "solidarity" and "empathy."

Also on the subject, in "Marx was right" the author talks about how Marxists and Communists would love nothing more then to drop their ideas and relax, the problem is they can't, because their Ideas have yet to be triumphed or disproven.

Sad, really. Ignorance is bliss, I suppose.

I mostly disagree, but yes self perceived messiahs are really crazy. Realistically working to make a difference without illusions on the other hand is great.
