There are no words.
I cannot recall a sadder film that I've seen...
Wow.

No, it was too sad. It was sort of like that, but in a cynical sort of way. Whatever that means. Da fok?

What is this movie about?
It's about a man in the 19th century with severe physical deformities. In the film, he's called John Merrick, while in reality his name was Joseph Merrick. it's quite depressing, especially the end.
He just wanted to be like "Other People"! :crying:

I watched it for the first time recently as well but I didn't think it lived up to the hype.

I disagree, I thought it was quite sad, if somewhat historically inaccurate. They got the right events in, but their order wasn't really chronological. They got the deformities right though.

Except, that aspect of the movie is the part that's mostly made up.

Eraserhead is a surrealist movie about sexual promiscuity. Apples and oranges.

Yeah, apparently the guy who in the film was "exploiting" Merrick, was in fact not the arse hole portrayed in the film, and Merrick went into freak shows to make a living- which was the product of an informed, educated assessment based on the difficulties in employment his appearance might bring.
That said, it is a thoroughly depressing film.

And paradoxically the most believable. That being said, it is relieving to hear that it wasn't that bad for the actual man..
