“They kidnapped my kid,” Campbell said. “I’ve been sleeping with his little blanket from the hospital.”
The state took custody of the couple’s other children nearly two years ago, saying there were in danger because of previous violence in the Campbell home, The Associated Press has reported. The Campbells have been fighting to get their children back ever since, claiming the violence charges are fabricated. It wasn't clear whether the latest court hearing involved all of the children or just the newborn.
The Campbells came into the spotlight in 2009 when a supermarket refused to ice a birthday cake for their now 4-year-old son Adolf Hitler.
Heath Campbell defended the children's names and told myfoxphilly.com on Monday that his reverend approved of him naming his new son Hons.
The Campbells have denied that they are neo-Nazis.

Seems legit to me, while I have no doubt the children will be in a better eviroment now, I am kind of wary of giving the state power to take away children because of their parents political views.

I've got no source for this, but I seem to remember reading something about other kinds of child abuse the parents were responsible for (beating, failing to provide them with food etc.). While naming your children after Nazis is reprehensible, it's not illegal so I don't think that's what they were taken away for. Probably helped though.


Edit: The Daily Mail makes mention of this in their article on the matter. "Authorities maintained it was done because of violence, not their Nazi-inspired names"

I am always reluctant to comment on these sorts of cases.....the fact rarely come out until much later, if at all. We are ill served by our media, in making balanced judgements. My brother a Nazi since 12yrs... have to say not very bright....never worked for a living. Fathered a child I was told. Named him KARL. for reasons best known to himself. They split up when she had to admit defeat, he was never going to give up the Nazi stuff. Good thing for her and the child. My post was not referring to that.

My post was referring to how tachosomoza considered having a criminal record to mean that an individual was somehow unfit for parenthood, especially given that we generally do not hold bourgeois law in high regard.

Hell, I have a long record myself. Property crimes against the bourgeois system and police are fine and dandy, but crimes against individuals (rape, manslaughter) are not. Sorry for the lack of clarification.

This sets an awful precident. The state can take away your children because of extreme political beliefs? That was awful to name their children those things, but things are more complicated then that.
