I was reading this FBI file (http://vault.fbi.gov/Albert%20Einstein/Albert%20Einstein%20Part%201%20of%2014/view) about Albert Einstein, a whole 92 pages in Part 1 alone of anti-communist paranoia about Einstein attempting to overthrow the government, and stumbled across these gems:

And who is the acknowledged world leader, who, by direct affiliation with Communist and anarcho-communist organizations and groups, and by his own utmost personal efforts, is doing most to "shatter" the "military machinery" for the defense of the existence of governments, which "shattering" is the "preliminary condition of any people's Revolution" according to Marx, and "the principal teaching of Marxism" on the subject, according to Lenin!

ALBERT EINSTEIN is that leader. Not even Stalin himself is affiliated with so many anarcho-communist international groups to promote this "preliminary condition" of world revolution and ultimate anarchy, as ALBERT EINSTEIN.

***

And of course:

Neither is Albert Einstein subject to exclusion by reason of his frequently revised theory of "relativity" which, even if true, is of no more practical importance than the answer to the old academic riddle, "how many angels can stand on the point of a needle if angels do not occupy space."

God I love FBI files. You have to wonder how much acid they were required to drop before they filed their reports.

It is about as strange as Hitler's OSS Analysis where they claim he loves to be pissed on, eat shit, be dominated, etc. It was crazy fucking weird and I had to wonder if the person writing it wasn't just writing a Hitler Fanfic.

I find it funny that they knew about anarcho-communism and considered it a threat at that time.

Yeah its not like there were laws banning the immigration of known anarchists, and its not like foreign born anarchists were being deported...

I think in the US government and elsewhere "Anarcho-Communism" was more an umbrella term for undesirable radicals, not so much 'anarchism' per say. You'll tend to see in a lot of their dialog they use the words interchangeably and don't distinguish between them.

This is interesting though. Not withstanding Einstein's socialist sympathies, this was standard observation domestic security did on public individuals like Einstein with a great deal of credibility and reputation. Lot of scientists, writers, actors, and others were members of various anti-war and anti-nuclear weapons groups (some of which are listed in that document) that the US government felt were attempts to 'weaken' the US from within. Admittedly though, some of those groups were Soviet backed, but still considering their positioning over the mater of big bad soviet KGB they partook in much of the same.

This was from the 30s, not the 1890s-late 1920s. Technically, I believe there are still laws that could allow them to do that, but you don't see them doing it...

If you do all this you can have similar visions as the FBI has.

Oh yea i bet 10 euros that the FBI is "spying" on RevLeft

Did you read it? The whole thing is basically the FBI's attempt to build a case based on a few laws and whatnot that Einstein should be denied entry to, or kicked out of, the United States.

During the cold war there were a lot of really stupid people with a lot of money to spend in the U.S. federal government. This made me  Thanks for posting it.

FBI really need to come up with some better proof about it before people start accusing their credential. It would be really dumb to even think of Einstein as a Communist, he was a scientist and people around him used to say that he was so engrossed in his work that he would forget about the world around him. A man like that could surely propagate Communism. It sounds stupid to me.

Einstein was a Democratic Socialist of the anti-Stalinist/Communist stripe.

Nothing more, nothing less.

Federal reports are nothing more than ridiculous crap loaded with dogmatic establishment doctrine. You can see it in any of J.Edgar Hoover's ridiculous reports about communists or communism in general.

To understand any of their documents is like understanding the mentality of anti-communist baby boomers.
