The US along with Britain and Canada have announced new financial, energy sanctions against Iran to halt its suspected nuclear weapons program

I'm not so sure. There's a lot of international politics involved in this, and it would be a bad idea to issue a first strike against Iran, even if the international community is against Iranian nuclear capabilities. Bombs will come if NATO powers are struck at first, either legitimately or with a false flag, unless, of course, the CSTO accepts its Iranian application. If anything, I think sanctions will intensify in the short term and let up in the long term.
