Basically they're expensive as shit for no damn reason.
"Oh hurr durr I can't get a virus." well, neither can I, if I'm even one bit competent with using my PC. I'm not some computer wiz, but I know how to use a free anti-virus.
Even if I did get some kind of horrific virus for some reason. I could have the computer fixed up for maybe 100 Euro MAX! And that is if the virus fucking destroyed everything and shits on fire and blowing up.

For that price you can build two rigs with full eyefinity setups
$400 i7 2500k + motherboard
$100 8gb DDR3
$100 1TB hard disk
$300 2xRadeon 6850
$100 power supply
$200 case and misc.
$400 3x19-21" LCD monitors
-------------------------------
$1600
What's even more pathetic is that a 2500k quad @ ~5ghz will smoke this dual quad nonsense cobbled together with the last generation of components.

Look I use the MBA, but would never even consider buying that fucking tower. It's useless, and rumor has it will be phased out of the product line.

I bought a Macbook on the cheap second hand from an old guy who hardly used it and here's my opinion.
- Great OS
- Great GUI
- Great programs
- Nice computers, very sleek
- Contrary to the picture above, in the 2 years I've had it, it hasn't crashed.
But last week my charger fucked out on me so I've spent the whole week trying to find a new one. I realized that besides being so damn expensive, Apple has WAY too much control over the sales of their accessories and hardware. And it's obvious why. The computer itself is shit really, the CPU and graphics card are terrible, although it is an older model but even back then there was better things to put in it. Next time I'll get some other PC and load up Linux or Mac if I want. I've got a triple boot setup on it for mac, windows and Linux atm :thumbup1:
They really are not worth the money they're asking.

The only good thing about macs that i will defend are their workers. From my experience they are the nicest and most helpful customer support workers i've ever met. I had to get a replacement 4S, and spent an hour in the verizon store trying to activate it. They even called verizon customer support and ended up sending me home to activate it myself. I followed their instructions to no avail, and after i was about to give up on the iphone i called apple. The guy at apple never heard of my problem, yet solved it in two minutes. Seize the cash reserves of apple, redistribute it to their damn workers.

A lot of those tech support people work from home with Apple. I was going to do it for a while - starts at $9 an hour then raises every couple of months) but the positions filled up quick. A friend of mine got in, they sent him a brand new iMac, iPod Touch, and iPad to use for tech support for free, and he got a promotion and a raise to around $12/hr within a month and a half. You gotta send the toys back when you quit, but it's kinda cool.
I'll stick to PCs running Linux...

It's not my fault you can't afford a Mac. I paid $1,000 for the same specs as this ugly PC, just so that I can say I have a mac! You jealous of my mac?
(I kid)

Yeah, you can. They do four or so weeks of training. My friend found it through a local IT staffing place.
Check online job listings around your area. Around this time last year is when he got the job - they were pumping up for all the people getting Apple stuff during the winter holidays and having problems with it.

You're right, you can certainly get decent specs in a Mac, but the point is that it is ridiculously overpriced compared to the specs that you get. For your average $2,000 Mac you can make a PC with the exact same specs and even the exact same OS for less than $1000 easily, probably less than $700.
The point of me showing that picture was to debunk some of the arguments commonly used in favour of Macs such as "they never crash". I used the same computer for 6 years and it never crashed.
Also it's a stupid misconception/myth that Macs are better for graphic design and all that shit.

"You should never buy a Mac" because.....
Some know-it-all Geek says it costs too much?
Oh come on!
I thought there might be a GOOD reason like Apple secretly supporting the neo-nazi movement or maybe reports of Apple knowingly exploiting child labor.
Some questions to our self-described "friend" that made the anti-Mac chart listed above: (not necessarily the OP)
Do you have the opportunity to use a Mac on a daily basis? Or are you critiquing from afar?
What qualifies you as an expert on what other people find useful in a computer? The ability to look at prices and basic specifications on paper?
Why do you feel compelled to "price shop" for other people?
Don't you feel that potential Apple customers can do that themselves?
Why does it matter to you?
Do you work for Microsoft or something?
Why do you feel that "finding the lowest possible price" is the only acceptable way to make purchases?
Isn't pursuing the lowest possible price bound to reward the Bourgeois/Capitalist mode of production as this is the whole concept of their economics? (example: Wal-Mart)
By the way, the last point in your ridiculous critique is fatally flawed:
This version of Microsoft Office is specially made for MacOS and is not the same as other versions. Apple's price is the same as Microsoft's on this item.
You need to blame Microsoft for setting the price of Office, not Apple.
Microsoft will probably explain it like this: Since the expected sales are much lower due to the fewer number of compatible machines, the development costs are spread over fewer copies and the price is higher.
By the way, that "chart" appears to be out of date by at least a year.... Why not update it?

I'm not criticising those who already have Macs, I'm just trying to discourage people from making the mistake of buying one.

A rich friend of mine has a macbook pro and has had every single iphone released on the release day. He is such a fucking annoying apple fanboy. He has a job and is in college, but his parents buy him everything. >.>

Lol, you sound like an apple fanboy. The point is that Apple sells the SAME thing everyone else is selling, but charge much much more than everyone else. You can easily pirate the mac os and install it on any pc.

Because the fucking mac pros are still only offered with Nehalem Xeons. Strictly last gen tech.
My single overclocked Sandy Bridge quad will eat every single one of those setups for lunch and then some.

Oh look, another good reason not to be a hipster and buy shitty Macs, besides the fact that you're paying way more money for it (which is important in itself): http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/25271/20100528/china-taiwan-foxconn-apple-dell-hewlett-packard-iphone-ipad-assembler-contractor-technology-electron.htm
Also, some programmer found a serious vulnerability in the Mac system not long ago, so I doubt it's true that you can't get viruses on a Mac.

Not that Microsoft isn't an evil corporation as well, but still.
