I guess he's ignoring the income inequality and stating that we're all the same since we're all Americans. The people cheering him on and apparently booing the person who asked the question all seem so very dull and ignorant. Something about the look on their faces..

He's right but for the wrong reason. The right reason would be that the 99% vs. 1% runs roughshod over some class distinctions, lumping the working class and the petit-bourgeoisie together.

He has been saying shit like this since OWS has started. He, like all Republicans and probably most democrats, thinks the bourgeoisie are job creators who the working class shouldn't dare question or challenge. Nothing new about this kind of shit.

First of all, who is the idiot that is just chanting "America" over and over again quickly with no rhythm? Secondly, this really doesn't surprise me. It was one of first Marxist view and still one of my strongest; nationalism is pointless at best and used to divide the proletariat around the world at worst. The idea of the 99% and the 1% is bringing light to how world really is divided, the bourgeois and the proletariat. But, naturally, he doesn't want that line to be seen, so he instead wants to draw not between the classes but by nationalities. "We are 100% Americans", meaning rather than joining hands with the proletariat from America, Canada, the UK, and all across the world, let's keep up the petty ideas that somehow, we are special and unique as Americans. Set aside and different from all the other nationalities. Nationalism is one thing when you are cheering your country on in the Olympics, but when it is used to divide up the world and choose alliances, it only serves to confuse us as to who the true enemy is.
