It really is a good read and could make a decent Tom Clancy novel lol
My response to it is: Cool story bro.

lool That was a great laugh. Interesting how they admit that they would happily send in the army if there were any threat of riots turning to revolution just as the dictators in the middle east have done.

They forgot the part about communist partisans taking this shit over, building socialist territories and forcing the bourgeoisie out of power.

As our comrade proudly stated 100 years ago. Let's turn world war into civil war.

Even though the article is silly, I think it's quite good that disseminates the quite frank expressions of the true character of the European project - by airing Merkel's theatrics (if that's what she said actually; I didn't come across the statement, in fact :blink:) and transforming them into a dystopian nationalist dirge, they do in fact acknowledge that even the lack of outright war depends on...the euro, which can be seen as standing for the interests of the European bourgeoisie, who are by no means a tight, homogenous group.
(I'm gonna feel really foolish if it turns out that Merkel didn't say anything like that)

Merkel looking in her crystal ball, while shes at it can she tell us what the next TES is?

"This article is great for all those armchair generals, furiously pleasuring themselves over every word."
Never thought I'd see sense on the comments section on the daily mail website but this more or less sums up exactly how I felt through the section of that crap I managed to read.

Why do people find this situation unrealistic?
The last time Europe was in economic disaster, the Nazis rose to power. Nobody living a couple of decades before would ever have expected it.

Okay, so the Nazis rose to power in 1933, a couple of decades before that would be 1913...you know aaaaactually I have a sneaky feeling they saw war coming in 1913...?
We too will know when war is imminent. It won't sneak up on us.

If you were to tell me on Sept. 10, 2001 that an event the next day would change the world in the way that it did, I wouldn't have believed it. If you were to tell me on December 2010 about what would happen this year, I wouldn't have believed it.
Maybe the conditions were already present for these actions to occur, but that doesn't mean that they still don't catch people off-guard when they do happen.
The article is just some dude's alternate history story. It would be wrong to assume that Europe has reached some sort of pinnacle of reason and that there's no chance of a serious inter-imperialist war breaking out, though. (Although the real reason it was hard for that to happen post-WW2 wasn't the euro, it was because the Euro economies were organized and interconnected in such a way that accumulating a massive military force was hard to do without other European countries noticing what was up.)

We did have a sort-of "Nazis" come to power. Neo Liberalism is the new Fascism. Although the two theoretically have nothing in common, both were created as a response to the growing rise of the power of the proletariat and the decay of capitalism. But like Fascism, or any other Bourgeois act of desperation, it will fail, like it is now.
I don't see a European war coming. I don't see another world war any time soon. But I can imagine things are going to get nasty.

Are you saying in 1913 they predicted WW2 and the rise of the Nazis!?
Shit always goes down when there is economic, social or political crisis in Europe.

As a person from the Balkans I think I speak for all of us when I say we Yugoslavs are insulted at the idea that there can be a war in Europe without us. :(
We will be waiting on a speedy apology at this absurd insinuation that there can be conflict in Europe without us. We also expect a cordial invite to all future hostilities in Europe!

Not sure why would Russia invade Baltic States, is nothing in there. The only maybe some citizens too nostalgic of Soviet Union maybe will collaborate with Russia just to survive for better life in Baltic States. For the moment in Baltic States for ordinary workers is nothing can offer.

That's funny in an extremely sad way. You propably should join our glorious swedish idea of licking the arse of whoever seems to be winning at the moment however, then we can laugh all the way through the post war boom, since our countries haven't been destroyed by war.

Serbia will be carved up - Albanians will get the south, Hungarians will get Vojvodina, Gypsies will get the eastern parts, and the west will go to the Bosniaks.

How is it every time there is a mention of the Balkans you have to spread your obvious Serbophobia. It really is getting old and starting to show how childish you really are.
