You think you could be a member of a revolutionary leftist group in syria?
Why do you think most of this Arab revolts have been predominantly liberal social network meets religious institutions dominated? There are no seriously organised leftist groups in the region... because they where massacred by the very same dictators anti-imps "critically" support.

I'm not sure that there are any formal groups. I imagine that most leftist parties there would have been banned and probably don't have the ability to organize right now.

Small groups do exist. PCOT existed in Tunisia, and socialist groupings in Egypt were able to come together. There's this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syrian_Democratic_People's_Party
Other "communist" parties exist but are tied to the NPF.
I know even small communist groups in Iran still exist within it. I've donated money to them through Iranian exiles.

A party comprised of Marxists and some left-leaning Arab nationalists, from what I've read. Supportive of the uprising, but have come out in opposition of outside intervention.
