Hey, guys. Does anyone know of any good books about astrophysics? I want to do the subject at university, and I thought I might as well start reading now, though I'm only in year 11. :p

Much appreciated. :)

Anything by Carl Sagan, Brian Cox, Stephen Hawking, Brian Greene, Sean Carroll, Lisa Randall, Roger Penrose, Leonard Susskind, Lee Smolin, et cetera. Not everything by these authors is on astrophysics specifically. Some is on string theory, cosmology, cosmogony, theoretical physics, particle physics, et cetera, but understanding those can be helpful to understanding astrophysics more thoroughly.

Cheers!

I heard it's not a bad idea to focus on one relatively obscure author (not too obscure or you'll seem crazy), and focus on their books...

the standard model is basis of all modern physics today. a lot of the pop sci books focus on shit nobody researches except a handful of nutters (string theory), the standard particle model is fundamental for that research and much else tho.
