A History of Class Relations.....

Is there a book out there that will help me kill two birds with one stone; learn more about ancient history and help me understand the Marxian concepts of class, historical materialism, etc?

I know hardly anything about the classics (Plato, Aristotle, St. Augustine, etc) and would like to know if there any Marxist books that tackle the subject of class throughout history.
