Yeah, I've been playing it since I got out of class earlier today. It fixes most the stuff about Oblivion I hated except the UI is a step backwards making it feel like the shittiest of console ports when using menus.

What the hell is wrong with you again? I hope that you were joking, because if you weren't you're just a sad jealous person over a video game.

I'm going to buy Skyrim in a month or two.
Many hours were spent on Morrowind.... Oblivion, less so.

It's like a combination of everything great about oblivion and fable so far. I've only played for about two or three hours though.

It's basically World of Warcraft without the multiplayer.

It is quite overrated, but to compare it to WoW is unfair. It's a solid rpg with an open world and a shit ton to do. Have you even played it at all?

Dammit. A bunch of my friends got it and rave nonstop about it. It sounds really awesome but I'm poor so I have a shitty computer that can't run it or afford the actual game. FFFFFFFFFFFFF-

it's not that great. better than oblivion, but still not what I'd call "good" considering some of the other games that've come out this year.

The Daedric ruins scared the shit out of me, goddamn architecture... as did the Telvanni, Redoran and the Dwemer, but eh. :D
Искра
12th November 2011, 20:58
I was talking about Deadric quests. When you finish them you get cool items and weapons. What I love about Morrowind is that you can create your whole story and character and walk trought that world even after you kill Dagoth Ur. Also, expansions are cool :)
Smyg
12th November 2011, 21:07
Oh, the quests are cool too, I'm just making a remark in general. :D
Morrowind was better in that regard, yes. There were no limits as to where you could go, that was nice... you got go hang out with Dagoth from day one, although it was a damn bad idea. Vivec's bedroom could be broken into, etc.

I like how I've hardly touched the quest and have mostly gone around dungeon crawling. Dungeons are much more fun this time around.

It has bugs, but has been running smooth for me on my 8800GT. Not a single crash yet, though I had a couple very brief freezes when traveling about. I even have textures and view distance stuff set to max. I turned off other fancy settings though.
Might be worth waiting for a patch or for UI mods if you're planning to play on pc.

Runs smoother than past Bethesda releases which is surprising still has bugs but I haven't seen anything gamebreaking thus far just some graphical glitches here and there.

Well yes, the single player is much better on Skyrim, but the overall goals and concepts are exactly the same as WoW, except there is no social aspect to it.
Elder Scrolls games have always been so overrated.

Wrong. The best part about them is immersion and length of gameplay. Thats why they are so popular. thats why they kick Fable's ass (gameplay length and openness)

Not to mention they're good stories (apart from Oblivion, obviously) - Morrowind is so complex, your entire perception of the main characters changes if you make an effort to delve underneath the surface.

One of the reasons Morrowind's story was so good, was because it wasn't just ACTION ACTION ACTION ACTION ACTION ACTION ACTION ACTION ACTION like a oblivion (and from what I have seen so far, Skyrim) are, You had to go gather information, talk to people, do favors. And when you did get to a big action part (like the cave were you get infected with corpus) it really felt like you worked to get there, it wasn't just
"go here and kill these guys"
"now go over there and kill those guys"
"now kill somemore"
"your the greatest hero ever!"What Todd Howard referred to as "useless filler" was preciously what made Morrowind great in my opinion. In Skyrim by the 4th quest it you find out your character is a dragon-borne, there is no absolutlly NO build up. And any shred of "Holy shit, that's awesome" that might be squeezed out of it, is lost because almost every advertisment for the game says "You character is one of the dragon-borne!" The fact the game actually makes it seem like a surprise, is almost a cruel joke on the players who actually care about the story.

I agree with this. While the game is much more immersive and has better story than Oblivion, everything is non-stop fighting. It doesn't bother me too much, but it certainly is a different experience from Morrowind. Only down time I get from fighting is selling loot and reading books.

Good thing I didn't pay attention to the advertisements. Although when I was told I was a dragon-borne my reaction was "umm...okay..."
Here's what I find annoying about the game:
My character is such a bad ass, going around killing dragons and such yet even after all I've gone through, and being known in Whiterun as the dragon-borne who kills dragons, the Companions look at me and say "this guy probably doesn't even know how to carry a sword". Then I have to prove myself as if KILLING A FUCKING DRAGON isn't enough. Idk, that just bugs me a little bit.
Altogether the game is great though. I joined the rebels but am starting to have doubts after seeing how racist they are.
I mean they have a whole ghetto for elves in Windhelm, wtf? Nazis much? Nationalistic assholes maybe, we'll see...

i wouldn't say non stop fighting there are still parts where you have to go talk to people and you can avoid a lot of the fighting if you're crafty.

Crafty, yes. I remember 'just barely getting out of there' moments from the other games where 'running blindly into the wilderness in a zigzag pattern' was pretty much my main tactic.
I can't play this game because I don't have internet to install it because steamworks games SUCK. Fuck gaming forever, I'm done with it.

Bah, I like oblivion better. skyrim just got boring after you beat the college, brohood, theives guild, main quest, and civil war quests.
in oblivion it was diverse and you could run around with no pants and a shirt. skyrim is too much like fallout imo...
