He was a fictional character and possibly a migrant farmer from Ireland.

He was clearly a Focoist who later became corrupted by that Monarchist Richard Lionheart :D

I would say a social democrat. Seems more into the welfare state idea than publicly owned means of production. But the term social democrat has socialist roots, and in Capitalist America socialism is the same thing as communism, ergo yes, he was a communist!

I'd imagine this legend became popularthe same way Christianity did with the serfs.
ie. providing hope for retribution to landlords and reward for labour and subjugation.

A liberal, no doubt. Take little from the rich, give to the poor, maintain class relations.

Robin Hood was a cool guy.

I don't think it's really clear whether Robin Hood was just a myth or not, seems most likely that someone of the name did exist but that he's been romanticised somewhat, kind of like Jesus. In any event though, I don't think you could really label him a Communist.

Stealing money from the rich to give to the poor isn't appropriating the means of production.

Holy shit, I just realised that Robin Hood and his merry men were actual, in the stories, primitive Focoists. Guerrilla warfare, small vanguards with popular support, rurally based with the Sherwood forest and all... shit.

Communists do not advocate primarily that the state engages in a redistribution of wealth. We advocate for direct workers' control over production (which then would also result in altered patterns of distribution of the social product - in a higher living standard for a good deal of a population) and an ultimate abolition of capital.
The point is not to try to fix the symptoms of the disease, but rather to eliminate the causes.

No, he was definitely an anarcho-communist.

No, even if we go by early versions of the story before we get into Robin Hood trying to pay the ransom for the release of King Richard I, Robin Hood is a yeoman that is basically trying to liberate the peasants so they too can become yeoman thus basically leading a petite-beourgeisie insurgency, to liberate the peasants from their lords and turn them into land owning small time capitalists.

No, he was (presuming his existence) more of a liberal distributionist. He recognised monarchy, i.e. a system of a class and hirearchy.

You used "y'all" and "uncultured" in the same sentence. Your argument is invalid.

Just finished doing research on Robin, Marion and the Merry Dudes for a forthcoming book. He never existed, but at various times in British history, tales about him were current among the peasants and served as a kind of focus of discontent. This continued even into modern times. For example, the movie starring Errol Flynn, made in the late 1930s, I believe, has clear antifascist and Popular Front elements to it. As a counter-example, the movie made recently, starring Russell Crowe, could be said to be a libertarian Robin, who is primarily interested in his own problems and is against taxes.
Just as an interesting sideline, during the 1950s, there was a very popular TV show made in England about Robin, Marion and the boys. Turns out that the show, which was actually produced by Disney, was written almost entirely by blacklisted American writers who constantly introduced themes of social conflict into the show.
