Do you know where can I get Bukharin's writings before 1918? I'm reading his biography by Stephen Cohen and I'm really interested in his writings on "imperialist state", "state capitalism" and "function of state in revolution".

MIA (http://www.marxists.org/archive/bukharin/library.htm) doesn't have much of Bukharin's pre-revolution writings but it's better than nothing. Imperialism and World Economy is well worth checking out if you've an interest in that topic

Monthly Review Press (link (http://monthlyreview.org/press/author/nikolaibukharin/)) publishes two of Bukharin's pre-1918 works: Imperialism and World Economy and The Economic Theory of the Leisure Class. The former is a further development of the same ideas that are behind Lenin's Imperialism, including his critique of German "state capitalism" (which is not all that comparable to any of the workers' states in practical terms). The latter I haven't gotten to yet - I just got it last week - but it's a criticism of post-Marx political economy, including Bohm-Bawerk.

Yeah, I saw that. That is a reason why did I post this question here, because if there were his pre-revolution writings on MIA I would be happy :)

The thing is that I'm reading now his biography and I read about his conflicts with Lenin regadring national economies in imperialism and regarding state issue in revolution (Lenin called him "an anarchist" and started letter flame war :)). So, it would be interesting to read about that.

His "theory of the leisure class" is IMHO the best thing he ever wrote. It's not just a critique of Bohm-Bawerk but of the "marginalism" that is the basis for "neo-classical" economics, i.e is pretty much all contemporary non-Marxist economics. Plus, it's a great and highly entertaining read.

Marx wrote Vol. 4 of Kapital to critique the bourgeois economists of his day, but nobody reads it 'cuz nobody reads those people these days. Bukharin's little book does the contemporary job, should be required reading in all Econ classes.
