[Erratus]

I was raised in a liberal household and the apple did not fall far from the tree. For a while now I have been politically aware, but have been moving within the basic structure laid out for me. Capitalism benefits everyone, the United States Constitution is perfect, ect... But I have recently decided to start questioning some of these basic principles. I've been poking around and trying to sort things out. I can't say that I am a communist/socialist, but I can't really say I am a capitalist either. My feelings on capitalism are that, while it may be a horrible system, it does feed a lot of people and it does give me a roof over my head. What I want to know is if there is anything better.

I am living in a pretty right-wing place, Arizona, but as I said I am liberal. I have concerned myself more with social issues, citing that since I am not an economist I do not feel confident in saying that is best for the economy. Socially, I am big into personal freedoms. I am a strong atheist, but I also respect and am willing to defend the freedom to practice religion. Provided, of course, it is not infringing on another rights or the law.

Honestly, after a life of time of being told about the evil communist, I am still uneasy about all of this, but I am pushing that aside and coming here with an open mind. I want to learn more about socialism and communism and to decide if it is an agreeable system and a practical one.
