An excellent article by Dean Baker in terms of illustrating the problems of a lack of economic and political democratic involvement in the Greek austerity package. He rightly says that 10 years of austerity, high unemployment, low wages etc., is not in the interests of the Greek population, but merely the already-wealthy money men and politicians.
I doubt that the Greek left will be able to unite the Greek working class, but if it were then its first demand should be that it should get a binding vote on any austerity packages, since they are essentially at economic war against the EU right now (the people, not the Greek politicians).
The nixing of the referendum vote showed clearly that capital has declared imperial war on the Greek people, to save its own skin.
