I plan to finish a BA/BS soon. Or at least an AS/AA.

High school graduate. I graduated back in June. I'm not attending a college yet and I'm honestly questioning whether or not it's worth it. I currently have a part-time job. With how expensive college is and how it seems as though people still struggle to find jobs after getting their associates, bachelors, etc...it really makes me hesitant.
I can educate myself with books, the internet (one of the greatest tools we have!), discussing ideas with other people and asking questions (such as on this forum), etc.
Maybe I'm just a silly kid, but I view the education system as a joke and I'd prefer to not be a slave to debt. :bored: Yeah, there are scholarships and grants, but I've not had much luck with scholarships. Meh..
edit: there is a community college where I live, so if I do go anywhere, it would probably be there to start with. As far as going to these universities that cost tens of thousands of dollars, though, I'd rather not...

I never met anyone with a university degree until I came in contact with leftists. I don't have one because I had to go to work (long before I graduated high school).

I have an A Level in English Language and Literature (whilst I was re-taking my GCSE Mathematics exam twice, I had to do something else whilst at college), a BTec National Diploma for IT Practitioners and a Foundation Certificate in Computing (I didn't do well enough to earn the full Degree). At high school I managed to gain seven GCSEs and a GNVQ - I gained the GCSE in Mathematics at college and also a GCSE in General Studies, which was compulsory at that college.

Hmm, the education system here is slightly different. College and university are two different things with college being just above high/secondary school but lower than second/third year university. And normally, you get a diploma at the end of college here and in university you get a BA or a Masters, which then goes on to a doctorate. Regardless, I got a BA in a science, gave up that career path, got a college diploma, now doing something else and now I'm considering trying to go back to university. I was kinda pushed into doing the university course and I hated every minute of it. Completely useless (in fact, worse than useless). I wish I actually did an apprenticeship instead.

Half a degree (I think it's called a "diploma of higher education"? It's equivalent to an HND, at any rate.), but I'm taking another whack at it. My mistake, y'see, was trying to get a degree with job prospects, when what I really wanted was to fanny around reading irrelevent books for four years. ;)

Working on my masters now, should be finished in 2012. Then if it all goes as planned, will be pursuing a degree in law. I am trying to set up alternate living work arrangements now so it wont be as much of a struggle.
I never met anyone with a university degree until I came in contact with leftists. I don't have one because I had to go to work (long before I graduated high school). That was me too and was 30 when I finally finished my Bachelors Degree. I was in a one bedroom apartment with 4 small children, working 2 part time jobs and going to school full time. I dont know how I survived it, but I made it in 3 years with a 3.2 GPA.
Thats why I am so old working on my Masters. ;)
I figure its never too late to start.

If you're in the right income bracket the government will pay for public college costs ...
FAFSA ... your expected family contribution level determines the level of federal aid.
I'm not talking about loans. Even though you need the FAFSA filled out for loans.

Not always. In 2009, my dad's income was $ -50,000 (yes, that's a negative sign) and I still was ineligible for even a single cent of aid because I had $19,000 I had accrued as social security after my mom died when I was 11. I go to a CUNY school for fuck's sake (probably cheapest public university system in the country -- it's known as the working class harvard just to give you an idea of its status as an "affordable" school) and still there's no way I could afford four years with $19,000.

Finished high school, that's it for now. At the moment I work, I study shit I want to at the library for free. Once in a while I'll actually buy a book if I can't get it at the library and it's too long for a quick read on the internet. Also the other day I got taught how to use the power armor I've had stored away for hella days.

Bachelor's in languages (Russian, German)
Two Master's Degrees: one in history, the other in religion
As I look at what I've typed, it's a lot of education, for not a whole lot of money; at least, it was not much of a financial struggle, and I enjoyed myself while working on those different major fields. I once got academic credit for writing a denunciation of Éduard Bernstein, which was a hoot. :) As the Old Man said, "Life is marvelous!"

I'm in my 3rd year of a degree in maths. I would have been in my 4th year of a 4 year undergrad degree but some personal circumstances mean I really fucked up last year. I'm probably just going to leave uni with a BSc, and I was thinking of studying for a masters with the open university because I still find maths really interesting and don't want to give up on studying it.

Bunch of bourgie middle class students up in here!
I dropped out of high school midway through the 11th grade. Joined the army at 17, tried a semester or two doing general studies at community college, hated it just as much as high school, never went back.

At this point in my life I will be close to earning a two year college degree before I even have my GED.

Started 4-year liberal arts degree this year, but had earned no credits at the point I went on medical leave. I'm giving it a second try next year, and beyond that, I'll have to see what I want to do to determine how far I want to go (and what I can handle.)

I'm a student going for my bachelor's degree. I'm going to major in physics and minor in math (I might also do chemistry as a double major with physics). I plan on going to grad school if I can afford it afterwards, but I'm a freshman right now so I'm not worrying about it much.

I'm in highschool. At the city I live in there's a school down town where students from all high-schools go to take advanced courses and electives not offered at their schools. There's a program for welding that if you put enough semesters into you can get a welding degree/certificate thing and get a job right out of high school without having to go to trade school. I'm going to do this. No way in hell am I going to college. I have already had more than enough of bourgeois culctural hegemony during my public school education, I do not need any more. Tired of being taught that the world is the way it is because of great white men and that the world is the way it should be.
