The village communes that where in Russia during the time of the Tzars where (I think), examples of a semi communist structure (I may be wrong). If they were (or if they weren't) how were they organised? I can seem to find much on them. I know next to nothing about them and would like to know more.
Thanks.

I'm afraid I can't help you too much, comrade. I think the general idea was that everyone was born into the village community - the Mir. Elders in the community, as well as chance, decided on the distribution of the land; this changed every time a child reached maturity, or an adult died. This way, even if your parents were to squander everything, you wouldn't be left helpless at 18. So yes, vaguely communist...

More than that I can't remember. (we studied the Mir in school but that seems an age ago...) [Well, almost a year now!!!] But I would be interested to hear other views???

(Btw apathy maybe, your name and signature are fantastic!!!)
