Didn't know which forum to put this in, but hey.

The Socialist Party organised a re-creation of the Jarrow March. I joined in Barnsley on the 12th and finished up in Trafalgar Sq. on Saturday.

Erm... dunno what else to say, really.

I almost did it, then didn't. Good work though.

Fair play, but I didn't see the point in all honesty. All of that walking, what for? There's a strike coming up plus the demo on Wednesday, surely it would be more practical putting efforts into those than engaging in a lengthy and tiring march which will probably have no effect politically. Sure, there were a few articles about it, but it seemed like a waste of time to me. Maybe someone can explain to me that I'm wrong, if I am.

It also cost the unions et al £20K.

So obviously the unions who funded it had faith in some successes. It was about setting an example for resistance, building up consciousness patiently.
