Trigger warning for sexual violence
So when I was in Iraq I worked in prison, this nightmare took place in that prison, in a compound I used to work regularly, I even remember the exact tent it took place in. In the dream a call comes over the radio that I have to help escort some particularly dangerous detainees to this tent, me and some other soldiers (who weren't actual soldiers I was there with) escort these dudes to the tent, when we put them in there, there is a specific interpreter who I remember waiting in the tent, the detainees are zip-tie cuffed to benches and then a young Iraqi female is brought in (there were not actually any female detainees at the prison I worked in). The interpreter proceeds to remove all her clothes and sexually threaten her, all the detainees are raging and struggling to intervene, all the other soldiers are laughing. I'm speechless, just staring at the scene, the other soldiers start to encourage the interpreter as he gets more aggressive, he turns to me and says with a smile "are you getting in on this". I don't do anything, I just turn around and close the flap of the tent as I hear everything go on. I don't do anything, I just stand there outside the tent looking at the ground, and then I wake up.
I'm pretty sure this has to do with what I feel my role was in Iraq, I stood by and didn't do anything while the people in that country were assaulted. I don't really know why I'm posting it here, but I just wanted to at least get it off my chest.
