Ok so you take a bowl of chili, an old style telephone, make them bend over and take their pants off, and then...

But seriously what are you asking?

What songs I should get from the album "Holy Bible" by Manic Street Preachers.

Why not acquire the whole album if you're specifically interested in it?

Because I won't like it if I try to force it upon myself like that. I want to aqquire the taste for the album by hearing a song that will catch my attention. I've tried just listening through the tracklist and I just kept on getting quickly bored and skipped half the thing, that strategy never works for me. I'm just asking for a few of your favorites.

Is it music you're talking about or castor oil?

All of them, it is a fantastic album, among the greatest produced during the 90s.

That said, start with faster, Ifwhitemaericatoldthetruthforonedayitsworldwouldfa llapart, Yes, Archives of Pain.

Stuff like that.

Clearly, you know nothing about music. It isn't even stadium rock. The fact that you think otherwise disqualifies you from holding an opinion that anybody else need take seriously. The fact is they barely play anything from the album live (with a couple of exceptions), precisely because it isn't that kind of music. The album was under-produced, anti-commercial in its sound and radio-hostile being effectively an album that held its roots with Wire and Magazine, the precise opposite of stadium rock.

And compared to the rest of the music that was popular in the mid-90s? Have you ever listened to The Holy Bible and then Parklife or Definately Maybe?

i was sayin the manics are stadium rock which is true. the album itself is just boring shite, only gets recognition cus richey edwards went missing after its release.

Well, your opinion is your own and there isn't much to say on that, save to point out that I disagree. However, your assertion that it only gained recognition after Edward's (presumably) suicide is false, as it happened it was recieved with critical acclaim. For example, it recieved 9/10 from the NME.

Seriously I always disliked this attitude. The question should be 'why are these particular songs on this one particular record', which is crucial here. Albums are much of the time intended to be complete pieces and collections, tracklistings carefully chosen, and whatnot. This is why I dislike shuffle functions.

If you are listening to an album and are getting bored, that's a pretty good indicator of what you think of the music.

Go through youtube and listen to a few songs. One is bound to get your attention. Dont ever force music upon yourself. The otherside of things is of course that this album may not be to your liking.

The whole album is great. Though I personally prefer Generation Terrorists. Here's a song from Generation Terrorists, if you might be interested in that as well:

Richie's song-writing and homoeroticism is sorely missed.:(

The problem with GT is that has quite a few songs that are basically filler material. They should have jettisoned about six songs from it and released it as a 12 song album as opposed to a double album of 18 songs. It would have been a far stronger album that way.

I would recommend you listen to the whole album. This one has no fillers and should be listened from start to finish. The first track Yes is one of the best and catchies on the album already, if you don't like it, you probably won't like the rest.
The Holy Bible isn't supposed to be very listenable either.

I'd say give it some time, like others have said there are no filler tracks on this album so any song's a good start. Yes, Faster and Ifwhiteamerica... are the ones that people seem to put as their favorites so perhaps start off with those. But yeah this is one of my favorite albums, if not the favorite, but myself it took some weeks or whatever before I got into it and actually liked it much at all, some albums/bands need some time really.

Amazing album. The first two tracks, Yes and Ifwhiteamericatoldthetruthforonedayit'sworldwouldf allapart, are probably the catchiest tracks on the record.

I concur with (some of) my learned comrades above, whole album is immense, also has the best quote / excerpt on the back cover.

But if I had to choose; Of Walking Abortion, Archives of Pain, Faster and PCP

But as I say, whole album is great in my opinion
