Hi everyone,
I'm an Afghan and the reason I joined this forum is because I want to know more about socialism-communism-marxism-maoism etc. etc. I hope I'm not at the wrong address lol
My country has had a history of communism, but I was very young at that time, so I cannot remember. I want to know whether the rumours I hear about those times now are correct or just propaganda.
I'm open minded. I have read about communism , but I still have many questions.
I hope you guys don't laugh at me if I ask any stupid question hahah
Regards,
Afghan

Hello and welcome. Don't worry too much about people making fun of you, we all started at the same place. And like the learning forum says: there are no stupid questions. And if they do make fun of you, then they're asses and aren't worth anything to the revolutionary left.

Well , they say all sort of things, for example: That muslims were prosecuted ; that land was forcefully taken from the rich and given to the less poor and so on.
I'm not sure to what extenct these stories are true though.

It's important to remember that whatever happened in Afghanistan and the Soviet Union is not to be blamed on communism as a whole.
Welcome.

Sorry about the soviets, they always did have a tendency to ruthlessly crush dissent. We just like their flag

Salam Alaikum. At least I hope that is the proper greeting in your country, I'll admit my knowledge of Arabic is very limited, so I hope I didn't offend you if I got the greeting wrong.

Funny, I was under the impression that Afghans were neither Arabs nor spoke Arabic. :p

Well that shows my ignorance. I didn't think they were Arabs, but I thought Arabic was one of, if not the main language in most predominately Muslim countries, since the Quran is in Arabic and most Muslims learn it, simply so they can read the Quran in its original language. My apologies if I've offended anyone.

When you say 'the West,' are you referring to Europe or N. America? Just curious.
