"In early October, a peculiar news item barely made its way into the back pages of Greek national press: in the northern city of Veria, a small group of people had started reconnecting the electricity supply of households disconnected from the national grid due to bill non-payment. This kind of solidarity action seemed rather abnormal."

You could might as well call it operaism, since the italians did it in the 70s. However, it's awesome.

It’s not only the ‘activism’ that matters it’s the revolutionary ‘consciousness’ that is crucial.
"In return, the realisation is sinking in that a possibility for tangible change only lies in people changing their understandings, their habits, the ways in which they do politics: while asked to cast a vote, Greek society sees a major role recast."

"revolutionary consciousness" doesn't exist. people change their habits as they fight the world and are moved by necessity to wage war against it. not by gaining "revolutionary consciousness" through cadre

you should check out the soweto electricity crisis committee in south africa pretty much the same thing, a bunch of electricians that just go round re-connecting people to the grid.

Dutch squatters in the 80s used to run this really populair campaign where they would tilt the gas meters, this created a tremendous amount of good will.
