A new sans-culottes "front consciousness" would have greater impact in the Third World:

The sans-culottes were the backbone of the French Reovlutionthey were the 99% of their day.

The sans-culottes were the poor laborers, the farmers, and the small business owners. They were known and identified by their appearance, that is, the wearing of long trousersthe type of pants we are familiar with todayas opposed to culottesbreeches worn to the knees, the sort of leg-wear worn by the aristocracy. Therefore the common person was known as those without culottes, or, sans-culottes.

These sans-culottes, sick of the economic disparity plaguing the citizenry, successfully took back their nation through applied force. They overtook the Bastille, a military armory; the women alone charged on the palace of Versailles. The common men and women, in the days long before Facebook, phones, or even the resources to use the post, gathered together and took down a centuries old regime.

Even in those days, a wealthy man said of the revolutionaries,

Although I understand that the sans-culottes are fulfilling their duty as citizensit would be better for them to go about their work than meddle in politics.

Even then the rich and powerful tried to silence the poor and disenfranchised.

Now, I am by no means encouraging a bloody revolution as the French one was, but let us never accept the confidence of a politicianthe movement must remain, as it has been, a thing of the People, by the People. The politicians would rather you go back where you came from, even if they have to throw you a bone.

Had the sans-culottes listened, would there have been a great revolution as there was? Most certainly not.
