This is somewhat random, but I've been pondering the finer aspects of a Socialist economic system, and the simplest, dumbest question that I had no answer for came to mind.

How can say, the video game, music, or movie industries be existent in a Socialist economy? Nationalizing these industries wouldn't seem a wise idea. Nationalized industries can be involved in the production of electronics and all I'd imagine, but when it gets down to industries that require creativity, it'd be more difficult to do so.

So can anyone explain how they believe entertainment industries would function in a Socialist economy?

Wait why can't there be national studios they already have existed i.e the National Film Bord of Canada and most entertainment produced in the USSR.

True national studios exist to produce propaganda, yet that basically means the state keeps the studio on a leash, so in a socialist economy you just cut the leash to the national studio system and give the studios free reign.

Or you could take all the current video game developers and lock them up into one room until they create the greatest game ever.

In terms of video games and computer software, I think that everything would become open source, which gives a lot of freedom to advance software technology, and eventually people will join hands in free association to maximize efficiency and creativity.
