Dragonball Z is /not/ anime, it's a Japanese children's show. Judging anime by that is like judging all wester drama by The Telletubbies. And besides, dubs suck. :D

It's not that bad (though I agree it's repetitive). I was just pointing it out as an example. I myself am much more into the gothic and medieval-esque stuff like Berserk, Vampire Hunter D and Samaurai X.

oh god. anime. my friends are all obsessive. we'll go to the bookstore and they'll head straight for the mangas. they all like "trigun" and "fake". i try to make them buy the stuff with funny names like "marmalade boy" or "love hina" which might as well be porn. and they tell me to shut up. but ben will buy gatekeepers and change the title to "gay peepers". then we pass the manga around and we draw in weird stuff and change the dialogue a bit to make it very dirty. quite fun.
i don't mind weis kreuz or however it's spelled. slayers can also be fun.

The dubbed version is terrible, of course. The subbed episodes I have seen aren't.
I can assure everyone that Dragon Ball Z is indeed not a children's show -- when it isn't dubbed, anyhow.
I like Berserk, Love Hina, Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040, Neon Genesis Evangelion.
From the little I have seen of Trigun, I like it as well.

Has anyone seen Jinroh, by Okiura Hiroyuki? More convoluted political drivel. I loved it.

I watch a bit of anime through friends. They got me into Naruto- it's serious good but can be real funny too. I watched Vampire Hunter D and thought that was pretty good. I heard of Jin Roh but haven't watched it yet. suffianr, I see you have jubei as your icon I thought Ninja Scroll was good but the 2nd and 3rd one really sucked. My friends pretty much stopped watching anime though, so I haven't been told what to watch and stopped also.

Yes, things tend to be better when they are not dubbed. One of the best animes I have seen is Card Captor Sakura, but when dubbed the series is purely for children. I think the animation in Dragon Ball Z is poor though whether or not it is mature.
I agree with you on Evangelion, that is the best anime I think. Love Hina is fairly good, but not very serious. Bubblegum Crisis 2040 is quite good.

I thought Cardcaptor Sakura was good...has anyone heard of Akazukin- Cha Cha? It is also a very good anime because of it's hilarity But I think the best cartoons in the world will are Ren and Stimpy and Cow and Chicken :D
Hmmm...the common thing I noticed about japanese animes is that they always include homosexulaity as one of the subjects of the story
In cardcapotor sakura, I think Yukitoo was gay
In Akazukin Cha Cha, teacher Bara-Bara Man was gay
IN Ranma 1/2, he/ she is a hermaphrodite
In Evangelion, the main characters were gay too
This makes me wonder....are the creators of japanese anime gay?

No, I have not heard of that. But yes, Cardcaptor Sakura is excellent.

Yes, Yukito is gay. He is a Clow Guardian. Li Syaoran and Sakura both think they are attracted to him, but it is only because of the power he has. Li Syaoran and Sakura love each other.
In Evangelion I do not think anyone is gay except Kaeru seems gay. He says he loves Shinji but not in a homosexual way, I think it is something to do with Kaeru being an Angel etc. But yes, I think in anime there are quite a lot of gay characters. Who do you think is gay in Evangelion, I can't remember if anyone was gay in it. Shinji didn't seem that interested in women, Misato kisses him before she dies and he has a close encounter with Rei. I think in the end he may be in love with Asuka because they end up together at the end.

anime is for losers. that being said, I, too was a loser once, till I found more noble wastes of time.

I know some guys that are heavy into Cowboy Beebop. I think it is interesting, but I do think the soundtracks are a good listen but not worth the steep prices $25 plus that some fetch.

Hmm, the only Anime I really watch is Inuyasha, which is pretty good from what I've seen.
Ranma 1/2 looks interesting, has anyone else seen it?

Samurai Champloo was probably the best anime series I've seen. TriGun, Battle Royale(the manga), and Jin Roh are all good too. Hentai is nice every once in a while.
Also hooray necromancy!

Maya (the squeamish lady with brown hair) was a lesbian, and had a thing for Misato.
That said, I wouldn't be caught dead watching Animu in real life. It's my secret shame.
