Any thoughts on the Robin Hood Tax?

Care to explain it to members who might not know what you're talking about? ( like me haha )

Its a package of international tax proposals in the Uk. basically its a tax of about 0.05% on transactions like stocks, bonds, foreign currency and derivatives that could supposedly raise £250 billion a year globally. The public sector would recive the benifits. Im not from the UK but this sounds to me like a good idea and somthing that should be inplemented in the US as well.
