im going to post this right here (will take some time to write it )
ok we will start with the basics:
TMAC
You need TMAC this will change your mac address (the cops use mac addresses to trace you down) so be shure to download tmac (download link below)
Every PC has a unique MAC address. if you do something wrong without changing your MAC, and
the cops will get you very quick
Use a good VPN -Virtual private network , not some shitty ones that people sell for 4$ a month.
These are important when you are choosing a VPN:
It must be offshore (Russia, Estonia etc.)
High encryption rate (Above 1024 bit SSL encryption)
No logs
Shared IP
but if you are just an activist you wount need an private vpn just use an free one (download below)
Communitcation:
Never use MSN. Use ICQ, all the conversations are p2p encrypted, or better; use Jabber. Jabber does not keep any of your conversations, and if you use Jabber with OTR encryption, noone will be able to know what you are talking about. If you will do some illegal stuff, you shouldn't use MSN.
Links for downloading the softwares I mentioned:
http://www.technitium.com/tmac/index.html
http://www.mozilla.org/ (http://www.mozilla.org/)
http://www.piriform.com/CCLEANER
Some good VPN's:
http://anonymous-proxy-servers.net/en/jondo.html (http://anonymous-proxy-servers.net/en/jondo.html)(its a proxy actualy but it is realy secured)
http://cyberghostvpn.com/
Proxy's
http://hidemyass.com/proxy/ -best you will found
What is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proxy_server
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vpn
And this is the most important thing:
It is important that you are not infected because other could see what you are doing (if you are planing an massive plan to kill all capitalists) and the guy (who controls the rat- remote administrator trojan ) steals it from you and then you are screwed or if he gets caught, you get caught to. so keep reading
Viruses if you are running a pc you are likely 99% infected with one of them. And you need those fucking anti-viruses,firewalls,... and this slows down your pc as hell. And then you got those fucking updates from microsoft,.... And from time you pc starts to run very slow. How can you work on a computer that is so super slow. if you have this problems keep reading.
Linux Well if you didn't heard of linux before this will be for you linux is an OS-operation system just like xp only that is free? why is it free beacuse coders code it for free its open source -the best things on earth are open source. And you can read why is linux better than xp:
http://www.whylinuxisbetter.net/
Best linux OS? just one word ubuntu. Ubuntu is one of the greates sexiest operation system ever made. Its super easy super fast and it has like a gazzilion futures and it is very super duper stable. it also has an massive forum that helps you with any problem you meet
Where can i get it
http://www.ubuntu.com/ubuntu

Enjoy mate

The least-shady off-shore VPN I can find is http://www.ipredator.se
It's associated with and endorsed by The Pirate Bay.
Also, the easiest way to hide your activities on the internet is to use someone else's wireless network that you don't know. When doing this, don't log into ANYTHING you've logged into from your home connection, not even email. If you want to send anonymous emails, create an email account USING A HIJACKED CONNECTION and never EVER log into it from a non-Hijacked connection.
And make sure you set your wireless card to a random MAC address using a tool such as macchanger (http://www.alobbs.com/macchanger) (that one's linux-only)
In doing all this, keep an eye out for cameras in the area that might ... for example, catch your license plate. Or you could do like I used to do and get an apartment in a densely populated area then use the lawyer's office down the street's wireless network when doing shady or private shit.
And like was said before, USE LINUX to prevent the possibility of viruses or other malware (such as the vast majority of trojan horse software and other nasty shit that takes control of your computer or spies on you). As said earlier, Ubuntu is the easiest for people new to Linux. And even though I use a different distribution (the different Linuxes are called distributions, or distros for short) I admit Ubuntu is pretty.
Oh yeah ... in order to hijack a connection that has a password and uses WEP (unsecured is always easier), install Ubuntu first. Then install the Aircrack-NG suite of software. Then find a wireless network using WEP as its "protection" and follow this guide: http://www.aircrack-ng.org/doku.php?id=how_to_crack_wep_with_no_clients ... once you get used to it, you'll be able to bust open a network using WEP in ten minutes flat.
Although I seriously recommend against using a VPN over a hijacked connection ... as it defeats the point of using a hijacked wireless network.

Change your MAC Address and restart your router to get a new IP Address once a day. Anonymity? Use Tor browser. Even the FBI will have a very hard time tracking you through that.

uh, you don't need to install ubuntu to your hdd to use aircrack. you can just run it off a bootable dvd, flash drive or w/e iirc.

new computers have around 4 gb of ram and linux only uses 256 ram(ubuntu) normal relises that hasnt so many futures (linux mint) only uses 150 ram, and windows 550 ram (mb).
So if you are on linux you can make an virtual machine on and play games on it.
or make dual boot first install windows then linux (linux is more advanced than windows it has dual boot option that fasistic windows hasnt

Fuck you windows its only about money with you. Look at linux people code it for FREE and they dont get anything from it now this is real socialism people volunteer to work not to get paid.

Forcing your public ip to change wont do anything as its still tied to you.
Anthropocentric - its way easier to just install it on your hdd. Youd need to create your own disk image to have aircrack preloaded.

Thanks for the info. While I'm already familiar with what's been written here, I'm sure it will prove helpful for many people. I actually have a specific question that is outside of what's been mentioned here, which is why I asked for someone to PM me.

Unity may make Ubuntu sexy, but it also makes it look too much like a Mac for my taste. GNOME FTW!

It seems like these VPNs only work with Windows or OSX. Are there any that work with Linux distributions?

VPNs are usually platform independent ... the one I mentioned earlier can be easily used with linux: http://www.ipredator.se
You can usually use 'pptplinux' to connect
If you use Ubuntu: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1189343
If anyone's interested in more technical info regarding configuration of pptp as a client on Linux: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Microsoft_VPN_client_setup_with_pptpclient
