Twitter is calling it "the world's most inappropriate Halloween party." It's the annual office party for a Buffalo, New York-based law firm. The Steven J. Baum firm processed so many foreclosures that it's nicknamed "the foreclosure factory." Pictures that recently surfaced from last year's Halloween party show the firm's staffers dressed up as homeless people. One employee had a costume holding up a sign that read "3rd party squatter. I lost my home and I was never served." The law firm doesn't have the best record, either. It's being investigated by the Justice Department and is the defendant in two class-action lawsuits.

When contacted by the New York Times, the firm called the photos "another attempt by the New York Times to attack our firm and our work." It did however apologize for the pictures. In a statement to Buffalo News, Steven J. Baum, the head of the firm said, "On behalf of the firm, I sincerely apologize for what happened last year at our Halloween party." Still, on social media people are furious. One person said, "SCREW THESE 2 companies. Banks throw homeless themed costume party." Others have called the photos "pathological," "disgusting," and "unbelievable." One man simply tweeted, "Oh man, seriously???" But one comment under the New York Times article about the event tried to defend the firm, saying, "the photos are in bad taste but, as it was intended … as an inside joke, i think we need to keep things in context."

Why is there always that one right wing idiot that has to defend the company in every single blog, forum, news, comments section?

Apparently, it's always "economics 101" or "common sense" or "take a joke, lighten up" or "people need to take personal responsibility".

You know what I've come to wonder. When we put the ruling class and their lackeys on trial, I wonder what they'll have to say about personal responsibility. Well, it was my job to make millions while people lost their homes, I might have given the order but if I didn't I would have been fired, I might have bribed politicians but it was all because the corporation needed to make money or they would throw me off the board of directors, everyone makes mistakes, its just the way that we had to work.

Sorry guys, I guess you should have learned personal responsibility earlier before throwing out innocent people from their homes.

I was reading these arguments by some conservative asshole earlier, about car dealerships which dabble in predatory financing, preying on poor working families. The guy said that the documents were clear and straightforward so anyone who got bilked by them had only themselves to blame.

It made me realize that "personal responsibility" is really just a modern way of declaring "Vae victis" and justifying the law of the jungle.

Meh, I wouldn't be opposed to it in this circumstance.

So why do you feel a need to give me massive negative rep instead of just ignoring my comment, replying to it, or some other non-childish response? You've done this multiple times now where you simply disagree and then give me a huge negative rep with the reason being "nahhhhhhhhhhh".

It could be worse. People often try to make jokes about things that actually horrify them.

It shows that the Capitalists are truly fearful of the consequences of their actions if it takes one media out-let to cause them to apologize for their behavior.

There would have been a time when the Capitalists repressed such news, or kept their employees from talking about their organization.

Maybe this is the beginning of solidarity with the working classes? I sure hope so.
