Feel like ranting, but don't want it in the "religion" subforum cause this has no point except to show you what kind of stupid shit I have to deal with.

So one of my friends from the United States, who used to be agnostic and recently found Jebus. Came out and states on his FB wall that "Pro-Choice people are like Nazi sympathizers."

I mean, sure he found religion and shit and all of a sudden wants to be a priest now. However, he is becoming increasingly intolerant of other people. When he is accused of this he says something along the lines of "I am just educating people." I watched the comments sit there and go back and forth mostly a circle jerk of religious douchenozzles. I had to try so hard to avoid joining in, however I have to pick my battles and know that there is no point in coming into the conversation, which will lead only to bible passages being thrown at me like I am a fucking vampire or some shit.

I mean this is serious shit, comparing somebody who has a pro-choice view on abortion to Nazi sympathizers. That is pretty harsh.

The actual hate for atheists is disgusting. The religious often make it seem they are being persecuted but it is obviously the opposite. A Muslim is never attacked to explain his/her beliefs, or Christian, etc. However, when I am asked about religion I respond with "I don't believe in God." I am immediately forced to sit there and explain myself. However asking them to explain themselves is considered persecution in their eyes.

I remember this past summer when I was in the US we were all at a party having a good time and he starts talking about fucking religion...at a party. Nobody came to hear that shit. So I come up to him and ask "Do you know what happens after you die? If you say you do you are a liar." He kinda thinks and says "well nobody knows, but jebus is blah blah blah." I immediately told him to shut the fuck up and leave the party if he came to preach. This was met by high fives and support from others. He was silenced effectively. I guess he was intimidated and avoided speaking the rest of the night, but intimidation is fine if it gets stupid people to shut up.

This is so weird for me to relate to, given that you'd be rather troubled to find anyone who actually believes in God around here.

Maybe a young girl...dying in agony...the result of an illegal abortion might make the subject more grounded. HEART RENDING. A venal Roman Catholic Church has fought tooth and nail to prevent both divorce contraception and abortion, here. Philippines Some fine day Rome will lose the battle and another part of the world will join others in rational choice. I do recall a girl calling in on me one morning 19yrs, a student nurse. Must dash she told me, off to Oxford. Shopping? No abortion. Like a lift?..No, I'll get the bus. It's 23 miles!....It's fine...she returned that night for a sleepover before returning to her teaching hospital. She now lives on the side of a Welsh mountain, qualified Sister, with 3 strapping healthy kids. Now here's a girl who knows how to make sound life choices. Although the gaggle of nuns who woke me up during the day after completing a night shift with some dam fool petition to curtail abortion rights did not agree. I was thrifty with my words.
As for Americans.....well a pal of mine is a tour guide. She makes a little detour especially to show some building connected to DARWIN. The yanks on the tour boo and hiss.......whilst the civilized folk(her words!!) look on either pained or roaring with laughter. So predictable, it has become the fun part of her day....anticipation and a set piece that sends our cousins into a frenzy. Can't be good for tips.....

Where is this paradise?

I live in the south myself, and I think I've only met one other athiest.

Wow, what he said is even more illogical than believing in god!

Stereotypically enough, Sweden. I wouldn't call it a paradise. At all.

About 70% are still members of the Church of Sweden, but that's because it was the state church until 2000. The vast majority are either atheist or agnostic. The older generations remain decently religious, but the younger generations are very non-believing. Back in school, I'd be very hard pressed to find any believers.

Christianity is still an important part of society - church burials, church weddings, baptisms... - but very few actually believe.

This is what I would say...

so supporting abortion is like supporting NAZIs? So abortion clinics are like concentration camps? So then logically you support bombing abortion clinics or shooting abortion doctors. I mean I may not support the US in WWII, but I do support people in the Warsaw ghetto fighting, bombing and killing NAZIs with all means available to defend themselves.

I mean people just need to follow through with their logic when they say stupid shit like that.

I'm a Nazi sympathizer, and I'm nothing like a pro-choicer.

Actually, I think most nazis are anti-choice.

Yeah, wouldn't they force you to abort if the fetus was going to have a disorder or something?

Historical nazis? Probably. Neo-nazis? Nope, they're usually too christian and conservative.

You should tell your friend to shut his wonderbread face and pop him in the kisser.

Odd, I'm in Alabama and I know a lot of atheists. Are you in a small town or something?

Perhaps ZERO, forced sterilization, is more in tune with your sympathies? Might float your U-Boat........?

I honestly can't relate to this(being religious myself), but I don't mind fully explaining my beliefs if someone is curious enough to ask. I'm not being persecuted, and in many cases it can be an interesting discussion.

I live in a small tourist town near Jacksonville Fl. They're usually not fundies, but still religious. Though I don't get out much, so it could just be that.

If I ruled this fuking land I'd make it mandatory to abort pro-life people's babies. 9 months into pregnancy.

Maybe, but mandatory abortion is as anti-choice as abortion prohibition.
