Read between the lines here. Hundreds "in every region" means a whole shitload more.

Wonder if Callinocos will next celebrate the wonderful revolutionary example set by the Emir and Crown Prince of Qatar.

DOHA: Qatar revealed for the first time Wednesday that hundreds of its soldiers had fought alongside Libyans in their battle to topple longtime despot Moammar Gadhafi.

"We were among them and the numbers of Qataris on ground were hundreds in every region," said Qatari chief of staff Maj. Gen. Hamad bin Ali al-Atiya.

The announcement marks the first time that Qatar has acknowledged it had military boots on the ground in Libya.

Previously the gas-rich country said it had only lent the support of its air force to NATO-led operations to protect civilians during the eight-month uprising, which ended when Gadhafi was felled with a bullet to the head after being captured last week.

And each day we have a new example of why these rebels are scum. Libya has a dark future.

Libya reminds me of Chechnya after the Chechen War...

Infrastructure totally destroyed, the economy destroyed, all economic potential destroyed, natural resources being drained by foreign powers...

It's amazing how history repeats itself so often and people are so gullible to believe the same shit every time.

Monarchs helping monarchists.

Monarchs helping monarchists.
Yeah, that's one over-simplistic way of looking at it (and wrong to some extent, because last I could recall, although many individual rebels are monarchists, the NTC itself isn't supporting the return of the monarchy; they are supporting the establishment of bourgeois "democracy").

You could also simply consider that Qatar is supporting the NTC because it would help Qatar to advance its own geopolitical and economic interests.

It certainly destroys any credibility Nato had left (if any) and underlines Gadhafi's statement that they were being attacked by an outside force.

The outside force, as we now find out, being de facto Nato troops! Libya defends itself and the UN sanctions air-strikes.

Lets just hope people recall this during the next imperialist war.

I'm actually a little surprised by this, yet it makes sense that Qatar would seek to advance its own interests if given the opportunity.

Lets just hope people recall this during the next imperialist war.

They won't.

This imperialist war against Libya has reduced all Cliffites to a laughing stock. They've exposed their true colours yet again by cheering the jihadi thugs and their NATO sugardaddies. Here's one of them explaining shit to me:

"As far as the rebels and NATO go, they're correct in fighting against the dictator Gadafi. Why must you complicate it?"

"Anyway to me it's about being against Gadafi regardless of who you work with, and hence support the rebels and NATO."

"What do you gain by not working with NATO? Gadafi runs free and NATO still exists as a global power? What's the use of that?"

Ohh and the best one so far.

"Just because we have one common goal [overthrowing Gaddafi], doesn't mean we're imperialists! You're pro-Gadafi simply for the sake of opposing imperialism"

To which I replied. No shit, sherlock.

People who refuse to study history are bound the repeat it, over and over again. Common heard quote and it's so fitting.

I've never trusted Al Jazeera, thankfully. It was rather noticeable during the Arab spring how they didn't mention a thing about any Qatari protests.
