What says you. Surprising this would happen? I think not from a leftist standpoint. However, it may surprise some of the people in the US as to how their democracy" actually functions.

While some might blow it out of proportions, calling the USA an evil fascist Nazi counterrevolutionary corporatist state, this is frightening and bad. However for the left this is no surprise. We live in a system where those with capital rule, not the people. OWS has allowed more people to realize how brutal our police can be.

Sorry for any mistakes I'm on my mobile.

Shit, what the fuck is going on?
In Germany at least the newspapers sometimes report on PB, i think the Spiegel had some articles a while ago on PB in Berlin and Stuttgart.
And they also showed that it was either using way too much force to break up stupid bar fights, or more often to scare away protesters because the government could not get enough consensus to build a train station the legal way....

Im not against "the police". But when the police stop serving the people, because they are the arm of the current government, then one should directly confront the police in the press. I know "the press" is owned by "the cappies" but thats not always so. If you can write a good report on PB in Oakland, with footage and interviews, send it out to a couple of independent newspapers and maybe make a video and get it out there...\

but the police is not serving the people, the police is an opressive force that upholds the status quo, protects the state and private proberty, thats why the police exist.

the point here is of course sometimes, stuttgart was to big and to brutal to ignore by the press, and well the berlin police havea reputation of being pretty brutal and violent. but for the most part german media wont question police actions at all and only post the view of the police.

Surprising this would happen?

not suprising.

I agree that the police is the muscle of the ruling class. However to say the police only oppress is a tad unfair.

As much as they harass the working class, and pretty much work to shut down all dissent, they find missing children and solve solve murders as well. They are proletariat, they are just misdirected proletariat serving the bourgeoisie. I say fight the police when the police come to harass and confront protestors, but also spread ideas into their ranks. If we can cause them to refuse to obey orders then we have won.

I would like to add: Fuck the Police! and A.C.A.B.

From the story:

Heading the list of countries requesting the disclosure of personal data is the United States, where a total of 5,950 submissions targeting 11,057 user accounts have been filed. Google fully or partially complied with 93 per cent of those requests. Second on the list is India, with 1,732 requests over a six-month period.

Wow...that is terrifying. You folks in the US watch what you post.

That is a direct result of the Patriot Act. I would call it abuses of the Patriot Act except this is exactly what it was designed for. It is almost always used for surveillance on groups or organizations that are not terrorists but who want change or protest, and for everyday crimes rather than to prevent terrorism.

This is insane. This nation is doomed.

This is insane. This nation is doomed.

It is doomed every second that corporations rule instead of people. It's like a man that goes driving with no brakes. While he could get miles without having to brake, every second he is on the road is a risk, because eventually he will have to brake but will be unable to. Corporations have no brake and they will crash themselves.
